SECTION 011000 – SUMMARY
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 PROJECT INFORMATION
A. Project Name and Location:
Robert C. Weaver Federal Building Granite Facade Repairs 451 7 th Street, SW
Washington, DC 20410
B. Project Summary Description: The project is divided into three phases of work, one for each façade elevation to be repaired.
1. The work includes but is not limited to the following:
a. Obtain all necessary permits and approvals from local jurisdictions and GSA.
b. Obtain all necessary security clearances.
c. Provide site and building protection for the work areas to include traffic barriers, traffic controls, signage, lights, overhead protections, and fencing.
d. Install and/or remove all necessary shoring and bracing as described in the
Contractor’s work plan in an approved safe sequence coordinated with the work.
e. Install scaffolding to access the facade.
f. Build mockups and obtain approvals.
g. Survey stones and mark locations of stone damage.
h. Arrange for Contracting Officers Technical Representative to review results of survey.
i. Remove stones, install new supports and reinstall existing stones.
j. Repair damaged stones.
k. Replace all mortar and sealant joints.
l. Install expansion joints as indicated on approved D/B’s design drawings.
m. If Alternate is awarded, install roof anchors and replace flashing and roofing. See
Specification 012300 - Alternates for more information.
n. Clean stones.
o. Identify and repair cracks and spalls in the concrete walls.
C. Architect/Engineer: The term Architect/Engineer (A/E) refers to the Design/Builder’s Architect/Engineer of Record.
D. Project Delivery Method: Design/build
E. Contracting Officer’s Representative: The Contracting Officer’s Representative's status relative to the construction will be delineated in writing by the Contracting Officer prior to the pre-construction conference.

1.2 WORK BY OTHER CONTRACTORS
A. The Contractor shall cooperate with other contractors performing related work, including providing labor, materials and other costs necessary to satisfactorily coordinate the Contract work with work performed under other contracts.
1.5 MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS
A. Work in existing facilities shall correspond in all respects with the existing conditions to which it connects, or to similar existing conditions, in materials, workmanship and finish.
B. Alterations to Existing Conditions: Existing conditions shall be cut, drilled, removed, temporarily removed, or removed and replaced, as necessary for performance of Work under the Contract.
Work out of alignment where exposed by removal of existing work shall be called to the attention of GSA. Necessary corrective work shall be as directed.
1. Replacements of existing conditions that are removed shall match similar existing conditions.
2. Unless otherwise indicated, existing structural members shall not be cut or altered without authorization by both the A/E’s Structural Engineer and the Contracting Officer.
3. Conditions remaining in place, which are damaged or defaced during the Work, shall be restored to the condition existing at time of award of Contract.
4. Discolored or unfinished surfaces exposed by removal of existing conditions, that are indicated to be final exposed surfaces, shall be refinished or replaced as necessary to produce uniform and harmonious contiguous surfaces.
C. Existing structures will remain in place.
D. Existing utility services with related meters and equipment will remain in place.
E. Removed items indicated to remain the property of the Government shall be stored on site where directed by the Contracting Officer.
