About this opportunity
The City of Olathe, Kansas is requesting sealed electronic bids for 2026 Sidewalk Construction (Project 3-C-072-26) with bids due July 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. through the Bonfire Hub portal. No set-asides or local-vendor preferences are stated.
The scope encompasses sidewalk and ADA-compliant sidewalk ramp installation, driveway replacement, curb and gutter replacement, curb inlets, pavement marking, signing, sodding, tree removal, and landscape work across eight Olathe street segments (E Cherokee Lane, E Cherokee Place, W Ferrel Drive, W Elm Street, E Harold Street, N Stevenson Street, W Wabash Street, W Chambery Drive). Bid items total 37 line items, including 627 square yards of 4-inch concrete sidewalk, 156 square yards of sidewalk with integral curb, concrete drives, removal of 238–592 square yards of existing surfaces, 902 linear feet of curb and gutter, six sidewalk ramps, tree removal, 1,012 square yards of sodding, and storm drainage work. All work must meet ADAAG accessibility standards and use KCMMB4K concrete with 95% compaction for backfill. Substantial completion is required within 45 days of contract commencement; final completion within 60 days. Liquidated damages of $200 per day apply for missed deadlines.
Each bid must include a scanned copy of a bid bond equal to 5% of the total bid amount, with the original bond document due to the engineer within 48 hours of bid opening. Failure to submit the original bond results in bid rejection. The successful bidder must furnish performance and maintenance bonds (two-year term) and a statutory bond, each at 100% of the contract sum. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to add an Owner's Contingency Allowance ($14,000 identified in the contract documents) post-award. Contract award goes to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The City will provide a Kansas sales and compensating tax exemption certificate. Non-resident contractors must register with the Kansas Secretary of State and comply with K.S.A. 79-1008. Bid documents, drawings, and specifications are available for free download from the Bonfire platform; physical copies are available for inspection at the City of Olathe Public Works office. The City may hold bids for up to 60 days before award.
