PART 1 – GENERAL:

1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS:

A. Drawings and General Provisions of Contract, including General Supplementary Conditions apply to work specified in this section.

1.02 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION:

A. The work under this section of the specification shall include the furnishing and installation of all systems as shown on the drawings or specified herein. This shall include all items of a minor nature necessary to complete this installation and usually included in similar work, whether specifically mentioned in the contract documents or not.

B. Plumbing drawings are diagrammatic and are intended to show the approximate location of outlets, equipment and piping. Dimensions given in figures on the plans shall take precedence over scaled dimensions and all dimensions, whether given in figures or scaled, shall be verified in the field. The contractor shall coordinate all parts of the plumbing system with work of other trades to avoid conflicts.

1.03 PROJECT AND SITE CONDITIONS:

A. Before submitting a bid, the contractor shall carefully study the Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Plumbing drawings. He shall also make careful examination of the premises and any existing work. He shall determine, in advance, the methods of installing and connecting the systems, the means to be provided for getting equipment into place, and shall make himself thoroughly familiar with all the requirements of the contract. Conflicts recognized by the contractor that may affect the scope of work shall be reported to the Contracting Officer immediately through the General Contractor.

B. By the act of submitting a proposal for the work required and included in the contract, the contractor shall be deemed to have made such a study and examination, and to be familiar with and accept all conditions of the site.

1.04 REFERENCES:

A. All work shall be installed in accordance with all codes, laws, rules and regulations of all National, State, County and Local authorities having jurisdiction over the premises. This shall include, but not be limited to, the International Building Code, International Plumbing Code, Local Amendments to these Codes and National Fire Protection Association. In

15100 - Page 2 of 14 case of differences, said regulations shall govern. However, this shall not be construed to relieve the contractor from complying with requirements of the plans and specification which may be in excess of code requirements.

1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE:

A. The plumbing systems have been designed around the makes and sizes of equipment named in the specifications or shown on the drawings.

Other makes of equipment named in the specifications, shown on the drawings or approved by the Contracting Officer as outlined in Division 1, may be furnished at the contractor’s option, provided that such equipment has equal capacity, the same electrical characteristics, substantially the same physical dimensions and can be installed in the space available with ample working space around it.
