8. Add the following to specification 23 81 00 DECENTRALIZED UNITARY HVAC EQUIPMENT:
R. Hydronic Unit Heaters:
1. Heating Coil: Constructed of seamless copper pressure tubing mechanically bonded to the collars of aluminum fins. Tubes brazed to steel headers and mounted to provide for expansion. Coils guaranteed for safe operation at steam or hot water pressure up to 150 pounds per square inch, or factory tested at 500 PSIG hydrostatic and 200 PSIG steam pressure.
2. Fans & Motors: Large face area blade style of aluminum and mechanically fastened to steel hubs or non-overloading fan wheel design and direct connected to motors. Fans factory tested and dynamically balanced. Fan blades protected with a fan guard of corrosion resistant metal. Guard may serve as motor mounting bracket. Motors UL Listed, thermal overload protected, and rated continuous duty by NEMA standards, but capable of operation in 104 degrees F.
ambient temperature and permanently lubricated. Motors resiliently mounted to prevent vibration transmission to the building and heat shielded from the heating coil. Motor controls manufacturer's standard for starting and limit control.
3. Horizontal Style Casing: Fabricated from 20 gauge steel minimum with internal reinforcing and threaded hanger rods or pipes for unit suspension mounting.
Casing back panel formed into a fan venturi. Casing air discharge fitted with horizontal one-way adjustable air delivery blades. Casing finished inside and out with baked-on primer and enamel after cleaning, bonderizing, phosphatizing treatments on the base metals. Final enamel in manufacturer's standard color.
4. Vertical Style Casing: Fabricated from 20 gauge steel minimum with internal reinforcing and threaded hanger rods or pipes for unit suspension mounting. Fan venturi formed in casing bottom and casing top depressed for motor and fan location. Casing air discharge fitted with down-flow two-way spread pattern air delivery blades. Casing finished inside and out with baked-on primer and enamel after cleaning, bonderizing, phosphatizing treatments on the base metals. Final enamel in manufacturer's standard color.
5. Controls: Thermostat provided by automatic temperature control installer.
Thermostat shall cycle the fan on call for heat.
6. Electrical: Provide and install local disconnect switch for each unit.
7. Acceptable Manufacturers:
a. Trane
b. Modine
c. Reznor
d. Or Approved Equal e.
9. Add the following to specification 25 90 00 SEQUENCE OF OPERATION:
3.06 UNIT HEATERS
S. Run Conditions - Scheduled: The unit shall run according to a user definable time schedule in the following modes:
1. Occupied Mode: The unit shall maintain a heating setpoint of 18°C [65°F] (adj.).
2. Unoccupied Mode (night setback): The unit shall maintain a heating setpoint of
16°C [60°F] (adj.).
3. Alarms shall be provided as follows:
a. Low Zone Temp: If the zone temperature is less than the heating setpoint by a user definable amount (adj.).
T. Zone Setpoint Adjust: The occupant shall be able to adjust the zone temperature heating and cooling setpoints at the zone sensor.
U. Fan: The fan shall run anytime the zone temperature drops below heating setpoint, unless shutdown on safeties.
V. Heating Coil Valve: The controller shall measure the zone temperature and open the heating coil valve to maintain its heating setpoint.
1. The heating shall be enabled whenever:
a. Outside air temperature is less than 18°C [65°F] (adj.).
b. AND the zone temperature is below heating setpoint.
c. AND the fan is on.
