Site of Great Biological Interest
There are none along the pipes layout.
For the record, there is:
• at 1,7 km nordeast named "Décanteurs de l'ancienne sucrerie de Brugelette " (SGIB 97);
• at 2,8 km west: (SGIB 3352) humid zone named "Le Courtil
Gras " with its federal natural reserve (LCN-RND 6448), a protected area of 0.88 ha.
There is no constraint as the construction work for the new watergrid will not interfer with the SGIB.
No constraint.
Arbres et haies remarquables (AHREM)
Remarkable trees and hedges
There are no listed remarkable trees along the pipes layout.
However, the site visit revealed a row of 14 Lime trees (Tilia cordata/platyphyllos), with a circumference between 1.3 and 2.5 m, on the crossroads of the Domestic Water pipes and the Sanitary
Sewer pipes. These trees fall into the AHREM definition and are therefore protected. Their removal requires a permit.
The modification or removal of the trees requires a permit.
Bords de route en fauchage tardif
Late mowing
There are none along te pipes layout.
For the record, there is a late mowing area with a safety band located less than 250 m southwest from the pipes layout, but outside CAB.
No constraint.
ENVIRONMENT
PROTECTION TOOLS
Environmental restrictions Figures
Faunistic and floristic survey
The ecological value of the lands around the pipes layout is relatively low. The pipes layout surroundings are mostly macadam roads, grass and some crops and meadows.
Floristic survey (Species found on CAB):
• Tilia cordata/platyphyllos (Lime=Tilleul): row of 14 trees
(circumference between 1.3 and 2.5 m)
• Achillea millefolium (Achillée millefeuille)
• Tanacetum vulgare (Tansy=Tanaisie vulgaire)
• Divserse crops (potatoes, sugar beeds, etc.)
Faunistic survey (Species found on CAB):
• Rabbits (two observed)
• Crows
No constraint.
Berce du Caucase
Giant hogweed
The Giant hogweed is an invasive alien species whose spread must be monitored. There is an area where this plant has been reported about 1.4 km north of the pipes layout. The site visit did not reveal the presence of the plant.
No constraint.
Wateringues
Wateringues are ditches or drainage works intended to dry wetlands and allow the realization of agricultural activities. There are none along the pipes layout.
No constraint.
Réseau hydrographique
Natural water system
Existing river contract (=Contrat de rivière ): La Dendre .
Administrative District of Water Management: Mons.
Surface water body (=Masse d'eau ): DE02R
Stream name : Ruisseau de la Brune
Category: non-navigable waterstream of 2nd and 3rd category, with a non-visible section running along the entire eastern edge of the pipes layout (voutement ).
The pipes layout crosses the path of the stream on 6 locations (red dots on the map).
The site visit showed that the waterstream is not visible on surface, but is channeled
(canalisé ) underground. This should be taken into account during site works.
However, provided that the laying of the pipes has no influence on the sluice (=pertuis ), there should be no constraint.
Environmental restrictions Figures
The Atlas of Walloon karst shows some fault lines crossing the pipes layout. The project is located in the Carboniferous Limestone area(=zone Calcaire du Carbonifère ). There is no application for this study.
No constraint.
Flood hazards (by overflow of streams and runoff)
The pipes layout is covered in many places by medium and high flood hazards (=aléas d'inondation ), due to water runoff
(=ruissellement ).
The site visit showed that infiltration of water into the soil is generally bad. Numerous fields were impregnated with water or even flooded (stagnant water), runnels along the paved roads. The observed flooded zones match with the map.
The project must not interfere with hydraulic continuity (meaning that it must not change the natural flow of water) nor affect the soil sealing.
There is no impact as long as the land is rehabilited/restored after the work.
Seveso sites There are none along the pipes layout. No constraint.
Terrils
Spoil heaps
Terrils are deposit of mineral substances resulting from the activity of the coal mines. There are none along the pipes layout.
No constraint.
Zones vulnérables aux nitrates
Areas vulnerable to nitrates
These zones are groundwater protection zones against nitrates of agricultural origin. The pipes layout is within a zone vulnerable to nitrates known as "Nord du sillon Sambre et Meuse" . There is no application for this study.
No constraint.
GEOTECHNICAL STRESSES
ANTHROPOGENIC STRESSES
Environmental restrictions Figures
Captages et périmètres de protection
Groundwater abstraction and protection perimeters
A prevention perimeter is located directly along the pipes layout, to the west. The plots concerned by this perimeter are: 63B, 63D, 94D, 95A, 96A, 101A, 102.
The perimeter is composed of a remote prevention zone (=zone arrêtée de prévention éloignée (IIb) ) which runs along the pipes layout, and a close prevention zone (=zone arrêtée de prévention rapprochée (IIa) ), which is located less than 250 m to the west.
The underground water work (=ouvrage de prise d'eau souterraine ) category B drinkable (=potabilisable ) code 38/6/5/007, named
No constraint.
Soil condition database
The pipes layout crosses plots for which soil management procedures have been carried out or are to be expected (Article 12
§2 and 3 of the Decree), known as the peach color . The peach color means that the parcel is subject to the obligations of the Soil
Decree, but does not necessarily indicate that the soil is polluted or that measures must necessarily be taken. There is indeed a series of derogations.
No constraint but it should be noted that the Walloon legal framework for land moves will soon change (May 2020) with the coming into force of the AGW of 5
July 2018 on land management and traceability. This arrêté also sets the conditions for on-site land reuse.
There is no significant environmental contraint along the pipes layout.
However, attention should be paid to the following points:
• existing paths and trails must not be modified or removed;
• the archeological map must be consulted (refer to AWAP for more details);
• the modification of the row of remarkable trees (AHREM) requires a permit;
• the laying of the pipes must have no influence on the sluice (=pertuis);
• the land must be rehabilited/restored after the work.
• the Walloon legal framework for land moves will soon change (May 2020) and the BDES might need to be consulted next year.
