**Note: The SABER specs are not a part of this contract and no SABER specs will be issued.
1. Can the ACM Containing Mastic and Floor tile be capped with a 3/8" encapsulation
vs. abating the material?
Answer: No, ACM Containing Mastic and Floor tile must be abated.
2. There are multiple RFIs (G3, G12, G53, and G67) which state the government will remove furniture. The SOW #2 indicates the contractor will be responsible for relocating and removing furniture. Please clarify if furniture removal/relocation is included in this project. If the government will remove the furniture as noted in the RFI, please remove the furniture drawings/schedules and SOW #2 from the bid package to eliminate confusion.
Answer: The Contractor shall remove and relocate the furniture.
3. RFI G30 was not answered. Please provide answer for this RFI.
Answer: No, crack isolation membrane shall not be applied under new tile.
4. Will SABER specs be part of this project? RFI G7 staes they are not while G63 states they are part of the project.
Answer: The SABER specs are not a part of this project.
5. In response to G52, please provide a detail of the leveling required. To bring the floor up completely level will add significant structural weight as well as likely cause issues with the exterior doors.
Answer: Since the existing cmu walls within the room are to be removed and were built on top of the existing concrete floor slab, no leveling is required. Any remaining mortar on the floor slab shall be removed.
6. Reference RFI G55: Drawing EP 5.0 shows there are 4 parallel runs of 500 MCM for the feeders in 4" conduit. Can the existing 4 parallel runs of 500 MCM be used to feed the new panel?
Answer: The 500Kva 120/208V transformer shall be replaced with a 750Kva 480/277V at the same location on the existing concrete pad. The existing conduits are to be reused the contractor has the option to also reuse the existing junction box in the boiler room or remove it if needed, The existing 500MCM parallel conductor run can be reused “IF” they can be rerouted as needed without damaging the cables and any splices comply with
NFPA70 230.46 and be irreversible compression type splice with heavy duty heat shrink tubing..
7. Drawing EL 1.0 general note 1 and sheet note 3 indicate the contractor will be required to provide design for the mechanical room lights, 50 FC at 3'. RFI 71 states electrical engineering will not be required. Please clarify if electrical engineering will be required.
Answer: The EL drawings show a lighting layout for mechanical rooms however if the contractor needs to field adjust the lighting fixture locations to accommodate clearance around mechanical equipment then a lighting layout point to point lighting levels is needed to verify lighting adjustments meet the 50FC at 3’ this can be provided by the lighting manufacture representative
8. G137: The extent of fin tube radiant heater demolition was not addressed. Please address this RFI.
Answer: Demo ALL Hydronic Fin Tube Heaters and Hydronic Piping for complete building. On drawing sheets MD-1.0, MD-5.0, MD-6.0, the letters within squares labeled around the building outline correspond to the existing radiant heaters. Refer to Combined
Asbuilts document pg. 155/209 “Schedule of Extended Surface Radiation”.

Answer: The SABER specs are not a part of this contract and no SABER specs will be issued.
10. The response to question G50-NASCO 2 directs contractors to ‘patch cracks in the existing CMU wall’…’allow[ing] 200 LF of cracks at ¼” wide.” Is this direction to patch 200 lineal feet each of cracks on Levels 1, 2 and 3 or is it for all three levels combined?
Answer: All three levels combined
11. Sheet AN-8.0 has elevation details of the exterior walls at the mechanical rooms for each level with a keynote for placing stucco on the walls to match the brick. The details show these at Grid lines 11 and 12. Sheets AN-1.0 through 3.0 show Wall Type F for a stucco system, but also have Keynote #17 (Level 1) and #21 (Level 2) which calls for new face brick.
11a. We assume that these walls are to be stucco and Keynotes #17 and #21 will need to be removed. Please verify.
Answer: The exterior walls at the mechanical equipment room are to have a stucco finish. Key note 17 (Level 1) has been removed from the drawing. Key note 21 (Level 2) identifies filling in the exterior wall with face brick to match existing where a window is to be removed.
11b. We assume that these walls are to have new stucco from Grid Lines 4 through 6 and 9 through 13 at each level. Please verify.
Answer: The new stucco finish is to go from grid line 4 to just short of grids line 6, and from grid line 13 to just short of grid line 9. In both cases, there is a window to be removed and the opening to be filled in with face brick to match existing. This occurs at all three levels.
12. Is there a specific size for bidding purposes for the fire line? Is 6" a fair assumption?
The drawings say "approx", but it would seem for bidding purposes we would need to assume a not to exceed size.

Therefore the dimensions shown in the notes would not suffice; the openings needing to be close to 27’ +/- wide. Please clarify.
Answer: Note 17 on drawing AD-2.0 has been changed to read “remove existing face brick/cmu wall. The opening at the mechanical equipment room needs to be 29’ – 11”.

If not where is new transformer to be located?
Answer: The 500Kva 120/208V transformer shall be replaced with a 750Kva 480/277V at the same location on the existing concrete pad. The existing conduits are to be reused the contractor has the option to also reuse the existing junction box in the boiler room or remove it if needed, The existing 500MCM parallel conductor run can be reused “IF” they can be rerouted as needed without damaging the cables and splices if used are irreversible compression type splice with heavy duty heat shrink tubing and work complies with NFPA70 230.46
