Integrated Threat Force (ITF)
Providing Scalable, Flexible, and Cost Effective Command & Control for EW & CNO Assets
Challenge
The Test Community faces many complex challenges in providing a realistic threat with full Information
Operations (IO) capabilities for use in testing DoD and Joint battlefield systems. The threat systems employed must be able to accurately portray threat capabilities that friendly systems are expected to encounter in real-world missions. These threat systems must be able to conduct threat representative missions across the full spectrum of combat operations representing any potential adversary, at any potential level of sophistication, in the world.
Solution
PEO STRI provides life-cycle management support for all threat systems acquired and/or developed in support of the US Army Test and Evaluation (T&E) community. To satisfy the above requirement, PEO STRI has developed a threat Command, Control, Communications and Computer (C4) suite called the Integrated Threat
Force (ITF). The ITF systems provide the Threat Commander and Staff Situational Awareness (SA) and
Command and Control (C2). Also, the ITF is integrated with Electronic Warfare (EW) and Computer Network
Operations (CNO) Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) representations in addition to traditional threat maneuver and fires assets.
Result
The ITF program Initial Operating Capability consists of six vehicle based systems with three trailers: The
Threat Higher Headquarters (THQ), Two Command Post Vehicles (CPV), Two Tactical Command Vehicles
(TCV), one Tactical Network Vehicle (TNV), two GSM trailers and one cargo trailer for the THQ Annex Tent and other support items.
