Solicitation # W50S8E22B0001 Repair and Add to Maintenance Hangar B Complex

Request for Information (RFI) 1- 16

Q1- I see in the collateral load area that the base collateral load is 15 psf with an additional 10 psf for solar panels. I don’t see the solar panels on the drawings at this time. Any idea where they will be located or do we need design as if they will be uniformly spaced out? Or are these even going to be on our buildings roof?

A1-The new PEMB roof shall be designed for the weight of PV cells as indicated, as if they are uniformly present over roof. This is in consideration of the circumstance that they may be installed at a future date.

Q2- What is the building code that we need to use on this project? NYSBC 2020? Please verify.

A2- Codes are as specified in Gen Notes Sheet S-001, Section 2.

Q3- Are we pricing our standard 24ga Standing Seam 360 panels painted?

A3- Roof panel must meet requirements in section 07 61 14.00 20. Steel Standing Seam Roofing.

Q4- What is the insulation system on this project? The drawings show and R-30 system rigid system but the specs call for an R-20 system? Please clarify.

A4- Roof insulation shall be rigid insulation on metal deck above as depicted on the drawings.

Specifications will be revised to reflect the change.

Q5- If we are doing the rigid system do we need to provide the roof deck as well? If so what type, gauge and painted or galvalume?

A5- Metal deck shall be specified as required to meet structural requirements. Metal deck to be painted.

Q6- What wall panels do we need to use on this project? I see that they are 2 ½” insulated panels, so do we need to provide our standard plank profile panels?

A6- Wall panels shall be insulated metal panels (R-18).

Q7- The drawings say that we need to match the existing building panel colors. Will you be choosing from our standard colors or do we need to include pricing for special color panels?

A7- Colors will be chosen from standard colors that match existing.

Q8- The drawings are calling for an 8”x 8” gutter on the roof plan and a 6” x 6” gutter on the elevations. We don’t have these as an option? Do we need to provide our standard or will these be by others?

A8- Project requires gutters noted on drawings.

Q9- The BSW column at FL K is offset 3’-0” from the steel line but the girts and wall panels go to finish floor in this area. How will these girts be supported at the steel line? Could we move the column at this frame line out to work? Please clarify.

A9- Please consider use of outrigger/cantilevered beams from column to extend to girt line as shown on drawings. Columns shall remain in locations as depicted on drawings.

Q10- The structural drawing shows a note of equipment loads weighing in excess of 300#’s… I only saw a few loads that will be hanging from the roof in the mechanical drawings and they didn’t weigh over 100#’s. Does this note apply to us?

A10- Assumed question is in reference to Note 4.D.1 of Gen Notes Sheet S-001.

This note refers to that designs included in this package consider equipment as shown on S- 505, for weights shown. Any other equipment in excess of 300lbs must be accounted for by contractor by providing supplemental framing and analysis of existing structure.

PEMB shall be designed for all mechanical/electrical equipment weights as required.

Q11- In the specs division 13 it mentions an Auxiliary Roof System. Does this apply to this project? Not sure what this is referencing?

A11- This section was included in error. It does not apply to this project

Q12- Specification paragraph 1.1 General Requirement b.2 indicates the fuselage is to have 3 users. The drawings show two parallel rails over the fuselage. Each of the two rails will be divided into THREE separate areas due to the crossing wing system and the crane rail. Please clarify how many users are to be on each of the fuselage rails and how many are to be forward of the wing system and how many are to be to between the wing system crane rail and how many are to be to the rear of the crane rail.

A12- There will be 2 users per rail between wing system and crane rail, and 2 users per rail, rear of the crane rail. The fuselage rails forward of wing system shall have 1 user each.

Q13- Paragraph 2.5 Basis of Design Mobile Aircraft Boarding Stairs. This is the only place that the boarding stairs are mentioned. This item was deleted form the RFP when this was bid in 2020. Please confirm that the mobile aircraft boarding stairs are not included in this project.

A13- The mobile boarding stairs are not included in this project.

Q14- How many hours of work are going to be requested for this job?

A14- Refer to the awarded general contractor. The project is for 365 days.

Q15- Will electricians get badges to onto site or will they have to go through the checkpoint each day?

A15- The same procedures will be followed as indicated in Section 00 21 00 #3 of the solicitation concerning access to the installation. Note that each time a contractor vehicle approaches gate entry, it will be required to be searched.

Q16- How high is the roof on the hangar?

A16- The height of the peak is 40 foot 10 inches.
