About this file
This document is a test requirements specification for weapons, ammunition, and fire control systems. It outlines detailed testing procedures and ammunition quantities across four ammunition variants: Training Round (TP), Counter Defilade Round (CD), Close Quarters Battle Round (CQB), and Counter-UAS Round (C-UAS).
Weapons Testing Requirements: The weapons testing phase requires 15 different weapon units and approximately 15,865 total rounds for Training Round, 830 for Counter Defilade, 470 for Close Quarters Battle, 15 for Primed Cases, and 600 for Counter-UAS variants. Tests include inspection, parts interchange, zero repeatability, zero retention, recoil, kinematics, reliability/durability, firing table ballistic matching, temperature extremes (ranging from -25°F to 160°F), ricochet, noise, toxic fumes, flash, unlubricated operation, thermal shock, altitude, solar radiation, dust, mud, humidity, rain, fresh water immersion, salt fog, and drop testing. All testing follows Test Operations Procedure 03-2-045A for Small Arms - Hand and Shoulder Weapons and Machine Guns.
Ammunition and Fire Control Testing: Ammunition testing requires approximately 680 rounds for Training, 1,165 for Counter Defilade, 710 for Close Quarters Battle, and 1,285 for Counter-UAS rounds. Tests include dispersion, sequential rough handling, electronic pressure/velocity/action time measurement, airburst accuracy, fuze arming, fuze graze sensitivity, fuze impact safety, point detonation, and long-term storage. Fire control systems testing encompasses 18 units and includes optical performance (magnification, resolution, transmittance, coatings), laser ranging and aiming capabilities (visible and infrared), ballistic calculations, environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, salt fog, immersion), reliability, electromagnetic effects, and material compatibility. All test quantities and methods are approximations subject to change.
