About this file

This document is Attachment 7 to a federal contract solicitation detailing user acceptance testing procedures for the Soldier Touch Point (STP) - a weapon system evaluation.

The testing requires up to 15 qualified users per weapon type for each vendor, with participants recently qualified on baseline systems within 12 months. Participants will be provided combat equipment including helmets, eye protection, gloves, hearing protection, body armor with plates, and ammunition. The ammunition allocation per vendor includes 460 TP rounds, 460 CQB rounds, 310 CD rounds, and 460 CUAS rounds (based on 10 users). The procedure consists of four phases: (1) Overview and training by government personnel covering the capability increase, followed by New Equipment Training (NET) conducted by government-trained instructors focusing on non-live fire weapon handling and usage; (2) Explanation of test procedures and target types; (3) Live-fire exercises including weapon zeroing per vendor-specific procedures, usability tasks (loading/unloading, selector switches, remedial action), range estimation and target acquisition tasks, and target engagement from various postures and positions at varying ranges; and (4) Post live-fire exercises including basic field stripping and maintenance in normal and limited visibility conditions, followed by completion of a detailed questionnaire.

The questionnaire addresses ten evaluation areas: weapon control and muzzle rise, felt recoil, trigger function, ammunition loading/unloading speed and ease, form factor (length, weight, balance), target acquisition capability, combat movement performance, control access and manipulation, mission requirement support including ammunition configuration, and open-ended feedback for decision makers regarding the weapon's potential as a Precision Grenadier System. All test methods and quantities are noted as approximations subject to change.

Procedure.

1) Overview and Training: Government personnel will provide initial remarks to participants explaining the need for the capability increase and what it entails. Users will then transition to New Equipment Training (NET) for the weapon system. NET will be conducted by government personnel who have participated in the Instructor & Key Personnel Training (I&KPT). NET will consist of non-live fire instruction for basic weapon handling and usage instructions.

2) Overview and Training of Procedures: Government personnel will provide explanation to participants pertaining to what they will be expected to do and the types of targets they will be searching for and engaging during the test. Detailed training plan for live fire drills is TBD but will facilitate familiarization with course of fire prior to engaging in live fire (e.g., dry fire).

3) Live-Fire Exercises:

a) All weapons will be zeroed. Zeroing will be conducted according to Vendor-specific procedures and ammunition availability.

b) Usability Tasks (e.g. loading/unloading, selector switch and controls, performing immediate/remedial action, etc.)

c) Range Estimation and Target Acquisition Tasks

d) Target Engagement Tasks

i. Users will fire from various postures (e.g. prone, kneeling, standing)

ii. Targets will be in open, defilade, aerial, and room clearing positions at varying ranges

4) Post Live-Firing Exercises:

a) After live-fire exercises, User walks to nearby room and conducts basic field stripping and maintenance procedures, in both normal and limited visibility conditions.
