About this file
This is a Version Description Document (VDD) for Automated Charting and Encoding (ACE) software version 1.0.28, released December 9, 2024, under federal contract HM047621F0076 for the Geospatial Terminals Operations (GTO) program managed by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). ACE is a next-generation aeronautical chart management solution licensed from MDA that provides fully automated chart production directly from aeronautical data sources without human intervention. The software generates publication-quality charts in user-defined templates and styles, with intelligent deconfliction capabilities that eliminate most manual refinements and apply user edits automatically to future chart versions.
The software deployment requires Windows 2016 R2 Server or higher, PostgreSQL 14.4.X or higher, PostGIS 3.X or higher, Apache Web Server 2.4.57 or higher, Java Runtime Environment 8 (1.8.381 or higher), Google Chrome 117.X or higher, and Adobe Acrobat Reader 2023.X or higher. Version 1.0.28 includes deliverable packages comprising NGA Production Source Code, GTO Production Chart Management, Microfocus Fortify scan files, deployment installation notes, release notes, and SSD Specification documentation. The software components include Perl 5.32.1, Batik 1.17, Angular 15.2.10 packages, and extensive third-party Perl packages maintained at metacpan.org. This release represents the initial release of version 1.0.28 with two feature modifications: replacement of the CGI module with Html::Tiny and Html::Escape modules (Feature ID AUTOCHART-19718). No known errors or possible problems are documented in Table 2.6.

1.1 Introduction
This document is the Version Description Document (VDD) for Geospatial Terminals Operation (GTO) Program- Aeronautical Automated Charting and Encoding (ACE) Software version 1.0.28.
This VDD details the software components to be delivered with ACE Version 1.0.28. This document describes the features included in the delivery of the software build, at entrance to test. It includes the build artifacts for deployment, any known issues with the delivery, and the changes included in the software version.
1.2 System Overview
Automated Charting and Encoding (ACE), is a software product that the NGA has licensed from MDA for the
GTO program. ACE is a next-generation aeronautical chart management solution that provides fully automated chart production directly from aeronautical data sources. Publication-quality charts are generated without human intervention, and in a wide range of user-defined templates and styles. An intelligent deconfliction capability virtually eliminates the need for user refinements to a chart. Any refinement (e.g. repositioning a label) is retained by ACE and automatically applied to future chart versions. Using an intuitive and interactive web-based user interface, ACE provides highly automated processes that require minimal training, while substantially reducing maintenance costs.
In the following diagram, the input data set includes the ADDE database, AFD data, Vertical Obstructions (VO’S), Chart data and extents, Digital Terrain & Elevation Data (DTED), and Water Feature Tiles.

1.3 Document Overview
The ACE VDD provides the list of software delivered for Version 1.0.28 (2412) of the product and the capabilities of that software. This document details a single release of the product and will be updated only to correct information specific to version 1.0.28 of the product. Follow-on versions of the product will be documented in a separate VDD specific to that version of the product.
The document is organized as follows:
