Question #1. Drawing E-401 Connection Schedule shows combination motor starters for the two pumps. The mechanical drawings show VFD’s instead.

Which is correct? If starters are needed, is there a spec for them? We did not see anything in the current specs.

Answer: Provide VFDs.

Question #2. Drawing E-401 Shows the pumps being feed out of adjacent panel PM27. This is only a 100A panel that is already full. Pumps draw 74.25 each.

Is there another panel to feed these from? This issue was brought up at the walk-through.

Answer: Provide power from PNL 'LP-27-11-PP-2' location shown on drawing set 4-581 Sheet E-102.

Question #3. Are Temperature Controls to be included in this scope? What is Basis of Design for Controls?

Answer: Temperature controls included in the Scope. Controls to be BACnet.

Question #3a. If Controls are to be EXCLUDED from MC scope, who provides stats and wiring?

Answer: Not excluded

Question #4. What will be the work hours for Demo? Work hours for Install?

Answer: Working hours are 0730 to 1730.

Question #4a. Will any of this work be phased? i.e.. 7-10 at a different time from 11-13?

Answer: Work will need to be phase in sections 11-13. Contractor will need to give the contracting officer 4 week notice before working in parts of sections 11-13 so the Government can move equipment and coordinate area shutdown.

Question #4b. Will any areas need to maintain service while any work is occurring or can the whole system be brought down and stay down through completion?

System can be brought down and stay down but will be contractors responsibility to keep building warm if system is down. Recommendation would be to install as much new piping, equipment, etc… as possible before existing system is taken offline to reduce downtime.

Question #5. Can copper pipe be used in lieu of steel? Is Propress permitted if copper is allowed?

Answer: Copper pipe allowed. Propress will NOT be permitted.

Question #6. Are Pre-Engineered expansion loops allowed?

Answer: Pre-engineered will NOT be permitted

Question #7. Are shutoffs to be required at branches and the equipment or just at equipment as shown on details? No shutoffs are shown on overall New Work plans.

Answer: Just at the equipment is OK

Question #8. Are Packaged Engineered valve kits allowed for each unit heater takeoff?

Answer: Please provide specification sheet. Otherwise not allowed.

Question #9. Per detail M502 – legs are shown going into existing concrete – are these required?

Answer: Can Drill and Epoxy Vertical Leg with 3” Imbed as alternative

Question #9b. Will these be required for all equipment pads?

Answer: No. Provide for Boilers and Pumps.

Question #9c. Does each piece of equipment require its own pad? (alternative is 1 large pad for all boilers to share or 1 pad for all pumps to share in lieu of 3 or 2 separate pads)

Answer: Each piece shall have its own pad.

Question #10. Will BIM be required?

Answer: Contractor to provide as-built drawings compatible with AutoCAD 2019.

Question #11. Are VFDs required?

Answer: Yes.

Question #12. M501 shows no pads for the pumps, only isolation bases. (M401 calls for 6” pad but says to refer to M501).

Are both an equipment pad and isolation bases required?

Answer: Provide both an equipment pad and isolation base.

Question #12a. Will isolation base need concrete inside or grouted?

Answer: Provide concrete/grout in accordance with pump manufacturer recommendations.

Question #13. The plans and specifications call for a non-proprietary DDC system, just want to confirm that we the contractor can provide our own DDC system and not have to use an already existing controls contractor that has a contract with the building (DSCC)?

Answer: Contractor to install the system there is not an existing controls contract.

Question #14 Sheet M-602 shows Design basis model # CFC-E-1500 but schedule shows data for CFC-E-2000.

Answer: Design basis shall be CFC-E-2000.
