About this file

This is a Department of Veterans Affairs memorandum documenting salient characteristics for "Brand Name or Equal" products required for renovating the 3rd Floor Ambulatory Care for Specialty Care Clinic project (#541-23-101). The memo details specifications for 33 categories of construction and finishing materials, including acoustical ceiling tiles, flooring materials (carpet tile, luxury vinyl tile, welded sheet vinyl, porcelain tile), wall protection systems, solid surfaces, paints, hardware, lighting fixtures, and building systems components.

The document specifies that five items require sole source procurement: door lock cylinder cores (Corbin Russwin), access control (Lenel), nurse call system (Hill-Rom), fire alarm (Notifier), and temperature control system (Tridium). For all other items, alternate products must meet or exceed the specified characteristics of the brand name products in terms of performance, appearance, durability, and compatibility with the overall finish palette. The memo provides detailed requirements for acceptable alternative products in each category, including specific performance criteria, material properties, dimensions, and aesthetic characteristics that must be matched.
