GENERAL INFORMATION

Project Number #523A5-24-011 MRI Generator UST

Work includes, but is not limited to, the installation of a 2,500-gallon Underground Storage Tank (UST) for the MRI Emergency Generator, Building 3 and installation & start-up of a new Eaton 93PM Power Conditioner and UPS for the MRI, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Brockton, Massachusetts in accordance with the Contract Documents.

BACKGROUND & DESCRIPTION OF WORK

During the MRI Minor project, at the time of the emergency generator installation, it was identified that the design did not meet the VA design criteria. The 2015 Physical Security Design Manual for Mission Critical Facilities calls for 96hr capacity, but the stock tank installed was 555gal or only a 24hr run time. The designer-of-record has provided the design package for an underground 2,500-gallon fiberglass double-walled tank to comply with the VA requirements. It was also identified that the installed Eaton 93PM cabinet only included a power conditioner and not the necessary Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) as needed. This will provide all the labor, parts, equipment, and materials to furnish, install and start-up a new Eaton 93PM Power Conditions & UPS coordinated with and complying with all Siemens Healthcare & Eaton specifications, designs and requirements. GC is responsible for acquiring a contract with Siemens Healthcare & Eaton Corp to provide the necessary site-specific design, site planning guide, construction, installation, and start-up documentation to be reviewed and approved by the Government prior to delivery. All work will be coordinated with VA COR, Clinical Engineering and Radiology to accommodate Radiology and VA Medical Center schedule to least impact patient care. All material submittals are required to be approved prior to mobilization or purchase of equipment.

Disconnect, remove, and provide off-site disposal of the existing Eaton 93PM power conditioner currently connected to the VA Brockton Siemens Magnetom Sola MRI power circuit. Provide all labor, parts, equipment, and materials to install and start up a new Eaton 93PM power conditioner and UPS that provides battery backup power for at least 5 minutes, to include at least a one-year (24x7) warranty through Eaton Corp. Provide all rigging equipment, materials, and labor to remove the existing power conditioner from the site and to deliver and install the new power conditioner & UPS. Relocate and reinstall lighting control drivers that are mounted on the wall to the right of the power conditioner to elsewhere within the room to make space for the new UPS, if necessary. Install must be meet Eaton and Siemens specifications and not cause any damage to the MRI. Install must not cause any downtime for the MRI during the hours of Monday thru Friday 7:30a-4:30p. Work should be limited to MRI Equipment room B142.

The contractor shall provide all the necessary supervision, labor, equipment, material, transportation, rigging, shoring, testing, and infrastructure required to complete work for project #523A5-24-011 MRI Generator UST at the Boston Healthcare System Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Brockton, Massachusetts in accordance with the Contract Documents, Scope of Work, Drawings, Specifications, Wage Determination, and Technical Requirements per all Federal, State & Local codes.

The work must be planned so that the building 3 MRI Emergency Generator is uninterrupted, or the contractor must provide a separate temporary emergency power system to provide emergency power to the MRI equipment. The temporary emergency power system must be equivalent to the existing MRI Emergency Generator to provide the necessary capacity. The new power conditioner & UPS install must not cause any downtime for the MRI during the hours of Monday thru Friday 7:30a-4:30p. The CPP shall indicate phasing sequence, length of intended phases and shutdowns and clearly define all systems and spaces that are affected. The contractor shall not be permitted to commence construction activities until all submittals identified within the drawings and specifications have been submitted and are approved by the Government. Only after all submittals are approved may the Contractor mailto:ryan.forth@siemens-healthineers.com then submit an official written request to start construction activities at a minimum of 90 days in advance of the requested start date.
