About this file

This file is a PowerPoint presentation from an Industry Day held on January 21, 2026, for the renovation of main public spaces at the Frances Perkins Building (FPB), a 1.85 million square foot federal building constructed in 1974. The Department of Labor is seeking design-build contractor input on renovating three primary spaces: the Cesar Chavez Auditorium (approximately 2,930 square feet with 231-seat capacity), the Great Hall (approximately 5,758 square feet), and the Mezzanine (approximately 2,477 square feet). All three spaces require comprehensive architectural and interior design, mechanical/electrical/plumbing system upgrades, and audio-visual technology enhancements to meet current codes and standards while improving aesthetics and functionality for meetings, training sessions, and town halls.

Specific renovation requirements include: new ceiling systems, lighting, fire alarm and sprinkler modifications, HVAC system replacements (with Great Hall and Mezzanine requiring completely independent cooling systems separate from the FPB system), and upgraded AV capabilities such as 4K projectors, professional-grade sound systems, integrated control systems, wireless connectivity, live streaming/video conferencing equipment, and connectivity to the OPA 6th Floor Master Control Room. Written RFI questions were due to Contracting Officers Helen A. Williams and Broderick Morris by January 23, 2026. Questions and answers, along with presentation materials, were to be posted to SAM.gov by February 6, 2026, with all RFI responses due by February 17, 2026, at 4:00 PM (ET). This is part of Request for Information OAA-26-00048 issued under FAR Part 10 for market research purposes only.
