Raw Water, Water Treatment and Distribution Systems Description
The NSF Redzikowo water system is a groundwater system that obtains raw water from two wells. These wells provide water for domestic/industrial use and fire protection; the drinking water system and the fire protection system are separate, but share the same source water wells. The well heads are located approximately 90 meters (290 feet) west of the WSB. The wells have an inside diameter of 400 millimeters (mm) (16 inches) and include wire wrapped stainless-steel well screens. Each Pump Capacity is rated at 10 L/s or 160 gpm to provide redundancy. The individual wells tie into each other where pre-chlorination occurs, this can be observed through the manhole inside of the well area. As the water enters the WSB, the water is divided between the fire suppression system and the drinking water system. The drinking water meter is located inside of the WSB where the total flow is measured. After, the flow meter in the system water is sent to the dual multi-media filters.
These filters are comprised of sand, rock and Pyrolox, and designed for removal of iron and manganese. During the process of filtration, air is injected in to the multimedia to induce the oxidization process. Once water leaves the multimedia process it enters the drinking water tanks. While in the water storage tanks, chlorine is injected for disinfection to occur. Finished water storage is provided by a vertical, steel ground storage tank with a capacity of 135 m³ (35,700 gallons).
The current distribution system includes 7 standing buildings, 2 water hydrants. Each building had an electronic water meter for flow measurement and is taken daily.
