Runway rails for top running cranes and necessary foundations are to be provided by the facility Contractor. Coordinate with the Navy Crane Center for additional requirements.

Preliminary Crane Specifications: Cranes will be top running, double girder bridge cranes with top running trolleys. The following information can be used for bidding:

(Quantity-2) 40T overhead electric traveling (OET) cranes with a 28’-4” high hook position above finished floor for Maintenance Bay 01 and Pool Deck. Estimated wheel load for each 4-wheel crane is 70 kips/wheel with wheels spaced at 13 feet. Runway rail shall be 100 lbs/yd. 11’-0” of clear, unobstructed space shall exist above the crane rails for the crane operating envelope.

(Quantity-1) 65T OET crane with a 28’-4” high hook position above finished floor for Maintenance Bay

02. Estimated wheel load for the 4-wheel crane is 115 kips/wheel with wheels spaced at 13 feet.

Runway rail shall be 175 lbs/yd. 11’-0” of clear, unobstructed space shall exist above the crane rails for the crane operating envelope.

The estimated distance from high hook position to top of runway rail is 3 feet for each crane. New runway rails shall be provided for top running cranes. Rails shall be arranged such that joints on opposite sides of the crane runway will be staggered with respect to each other and with due consideration to the wheelbase of the crane. Rail joints shall not occur at runway girder splices.

The cranes will require 480V, 3-phase supply as noted below:

40T cranes' building circuit breaker ratings are estimated to be 150A each

65T crane's building circuit breaker rating is estimated to be 200A.

A floor-level disconnect shall be provided for each crane.

Cranes are likely to be Class C. Speeds are unknown at this time. Cranes will be controlled via portable radio controller.
