PPI Reference Question Response

Page Section Paragraph

20 Should we include construction administrative costs for the DB General Contractor in the "design work" CLIN for each of the buildings? We find that some agencies do not allow for billing of "construction" line items until the site is mobilized and in instances where they ask for the breakout of construction and design it can be difficult to get paid for administration of the design process out of funds that are in the "construction" CLIN.

Price and payment procedures are detailed in specification section 01 20

RFP P130 D30 The section states to size Chiller, Boiler, and VAV System for failure of energy recovery device; however, the RFP also requires plate heat exchanger. We would agree if the RFP required an energy wheel as there is failure potential; however, we do not know the failure point for a heat exchanger. Please clarify intent.

See Amendment 0013.

45 pdf page

RFP P130 D30 The section requires Plate Heat Exchanger if Outdoor Air exceeds 750 CFM. If the make-up air rate for heated and ventilated spaces exceeds the 750 CFM, will a plate heat exchange be required for winter heating and a by-pass for ventilation cooling?

See Amendment 0013.

RFP 246 Chapter 2 / 2.6 This section notes to provide breakaway walls and/or opening in breakaway walls in accordance with ASCE 24 for the Maintenance Wing. Breakaway walls are typically used for elevated construction to protect the lower floor and are usually wood framed. In accordance with Chapter 6 B2010 the wall construction for this facility is to be cmu or concrete panels with a brick veneer. Please confirm that breakaway walls are not a requirement for this portion of the building.

168 Part 3 Chapter 6 B1010 indicates the perimeter fencing catwalk framing must be "bar grating and structural steel framing". C201001 indicates cast-in-place concrete for the stairs and tower catwalk. Please confirm the desired materials, and please consider the use of properly coated steel for both.

See Amendment 0013.

186 P142A Part 3 Chapter

6/ ESR C30

Building P142A lists two "Type A" wall protection descriptions. The wording is slightly different. Are these completely different but named the same incorrectly?

Refer to C301090 for definitions.

191 P130 Part 3 Ch. 6, ESR C30

C301090 lists a "Modular Panel Wall System" Wood veneer. This is not identified in any of the room requirements. Considering the building use, this seems to not be applicable. Please clarify.

Refer to Lobby room requirements.
