5.0 NOTES:
5.1. The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier, must consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTRs.
5.2. The contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier are advised to review the other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item.
5.3. THIS SHIP CONTAINS HIGH VOLTAGE (HV) ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. OBEY ALL POSTED AND VERBAL INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING SAFETY AND EXCLUSION FROM HIGH VOLTAGE AREAS. AT NO TIME APPROACH, WORK ON, OR ENTER A HIGH VOLTAGE AREA WITHOUT PROPER AUTHORIZATION.
5.4. THE T-AKE CLASS ELECTRICAL COLOR CODING DOES NOT FOLLOW CONSISTENT COLOR SCHEME. THE SHIP IS KNOWN TO HAVE CURRENT CARRYING CONDUCTORS COLORED GREEN, BLUE, BLACK, AND WHITE. ASSUME ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE ENERGIZED UNTIL TESTED AND PROVEN OTHERWISE. TEST ALL ELECTICAL CABLES TO ENSURE THEY ARE DE-ENERGIZED PRIOR TO WORKING ON THE ITEM.
6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None additional.
7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:
7.1. Tag-Out all required systems and equipment. Drain and dispose of any liquid in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
7.1.1. Cleanliness of the system piping is of the utmost importance. Open pipe must be covered immediately to prevent contamination from various sources.
7.1.2. The covers shall be strong, durable material to prevent rupture and shall be securely fastened to prevent them from being dislodged by normal rough handling. Loose-fitting covers (wood plugs or rags) are not satisfactory. A full face gasket shall be in place between the pipe flange and the cover used.
7.2. Remove all interferences including deck plates and pipe hangers as required to facilitate this repair. Open deck area shall have a safety barrier installed for the safety of ship’s crew. Provide Staging as required to reach valves.
7.3. Remove lagging where installed. Replace lagging pads with new.
7.4. Rigging services will be required to remove valves.
7.5. The following valves are to be replaced with GFM provided valves:
7.5.1. Central Seawater Cooling System Valves:
· SW-V-8
· SW-V-10
· SW-V-13.
7.6. Where installed, temporarily remove (Rig off) motor operators and secure in place as to prevent damage. Do not disconnect electrical wiring.
7.7. Remove flange shielding. Retain flange shielding for reuse if in good condition. Flange shield retained must me clearly marked as to install in the same location as removed.
7.8. Prior to removal of any fasteners, install a containment underneath valves to capture any residual fluid remaining in the system.
7.9. Remove the flange fasteners; bag and tag the fasteners and retain for reuse, die all threads.
7.10. Remove (Rig-out) the existing valve and convey to shop for cleaning, inspection and testing. Fasteners will be coated with Anti-Seize compound prior to reinstallation.
7.11. Reinstall (Rig in place) motor operators where removed in paragraph 7.5.
7.12. Inspection/Test:
7.12.1. Provide hydrostatic test of valves prior to installation. Perform shop test of valves. Hydro body and one side of check valves.
7.12.2. Perform Operational test of valves replaced. Verify valves open and close easily and smoothly throughout the operating cycle without binding. MSCREP to witness operational testing.
7.12.3. Perform hydrostatic test using system pressure for valves replaced. MSCREP to witness hydrostatic testing. Satisfactory test criteria are zero leakage at the flanges.
7.13. Preparation of Drawings/Documentation:
7.13.1. Provide a final report in PDF format; results of the operational test for each valve, and results of system pressure hydrostatic test of each valve.
7.14. PAINTING/LAGGING:
7.14.1. Paint all new and disturbed surfaces to match surrounding surfaces.
7.14.2. Renew lagging where old lagging was removed. Paint all new and disturbed surfaces to match surrounding surfaces.
