SCOPE 432
This specification identifies the applicable conditions, constraints, and requirements that establish boundary 433 conditions for the Combat Convoy Simulator (CCS) system modification. 434
System Description 435
The CCS is a simulator-based virtual environment to train convoy operations and basic tactics, techniques, 436 and procedures (TTP) for the driver, gunner, and passengers of the vehicle. The CCS consists of an 437
Instructor/Operator Station (IOS), four (4) High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs) 438
(M1151 configuration), two (2) Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacements (MTVRs) (Mk 23 with Marine Armor 439
Protection Kit configuration), Student Stations with integrated radio communication, simulated weapons 440 system, and Blue Force Tracker (BFT), image and sound generation systems, and an internal network 441 system, communication network linking the six (6) student stations with the IOS and linking two (2) CCS 442 systems. The CCS is composed of Government-Off-the Shelf (GOTS), Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS), 443 and Non-Developmental Item (NDI) hardware and software. 444
Mission Description 445
The mission of the CCS is to train small unit personnel, vehicle operators, and convoy commanders on 446 immediate action execution in a combat environment while incorporating USMC training standards and 447 doctrine. The CCS exposes the training audience to various threat and threat countermeasure situations 448 such as improvised explosive devices (IED) attacks, direct and indirect fires, vehicle-borne improvised 449 explosive devices (VBIED) attacks, and roadblocks. The CCS provides the vehicle crew and convoy tailored 450 training in convoy and formation driving, command and control, resupply, patrol, logistics support, high-451 value target extraction, medical evacuation (MEDEVAC), close air support (CAS), call for fire (CFF), 452 reaction to ambush attacks and IED defeat, use of weapons in compliance with the Rules of Engagement 453
(ROE), engagement of enemy forces in dismounted actions, and the conduct of Military Operations in Urban 454
Terrain (MOUT). 455
