1. Introduction

A set of 28 input cases were used to test OPTISIG 7.4.1. Twenty five OPTISIG test cases were run to compare the delivered versions of 7.4 and 7.4.1. Three additional cases were run to test new features of OPTISIG 7.4.1 and will be carried forward as part of the acceptance test suite. These cases are intended to test all the physics algorithms using target models and scenarios typical of those seen in normal practice. The algorithms tested are shown in Table

1-1. The list of target models used is shown in Table 1-2.

Two OPTISIG driver programs, one for OPTISIG 7.4, and one for OPTISIG 7.4.1 were developed specifically to carry out the process of acceptance testing. The driver programs were designed to output both thermal and radiometric information that could be used as the basis for comparisons. Two files are created for each target object under test, a “BANDSIGS” file that contains radiometric optical signatures for all time points and all sensor bands and a

“THERMAL” file that contains the surface temperatures at each time point for all thermal nodes on the target.

The driver programs were written in FORTRAN 77 and were compiled and linked to the two stock versions of OPTISIG. For this work, the 64-bit Intel Visual Fortran XE 14.0.0.103 compiler was used as the baseline compiler, and executables for both versions of OPTISIG were generated and tested. This was done for the Windows 7 platform (64-bit). In addition, several other operating systems were tested. In those cases, OPTISIG version 7.4.1 was utilized, and the results were compared with the baseline. A summary of those combinations is shown in Table 1-4.

Three sensor bands were used for each of the OPTISIG test cases. A visible band (Band 1: 0.3

- 0.7m) was included to aid in the testing of reflection algorithms. The other two bands were designed to test both reflection and thermal emission modeling (Band 2: 3.0 - 5.0 m Band

3: 9.0 - 12.0 m).

Pass/Fail results for the 25 test cases used to compare 7.4.1 to 7.4 are summarized in Table

1-5.

Based on our careful review of the acceptance test matrix results, we find that OPTISIG 7.4.1 is acceptable for distribution.

3. Inputs Always Passing Acceptance Testing of OPTISIG 7.4.1

All 25 input streams passed acceptance testing of OPTISIG 7.4.1 as compared with OPTISIG

7.4. One iteration was required for each case.

Table 3-1 and Table 3-2 summarize the differences, if any, between OPTISIG versions.

Cross comparisons of OPTISIG 7.4.1 using other compilers were carried out on the Windows platform, and similar comparisons were carried out on the Linux platform. Table 3-3 through

Table 3-6 detail the differences seen between various compilers on both the Windows and

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) platforms.

The results for the first iteration for each of these inputs for the Windows 7 platform using the baseline compiler are shown in Figure 3-1 through Figure 3-75.
