About this file
This document is a comprehensive set of technical specifications for a traditional asbestos abatement project at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. The project involves removing approximately 2,100 square feet of asbestos containing white duct mastic on penthouse supply ducts, 105,850 square feet of asbestos containing white mastic on foil wrapped ducts on 2nd through 5th floors, and multiple linear feet of asbestos containing mastic on various pipes and lines throughout the facility.
The specifications detail extensive requirements for asbestos removal, including strict worker protection protocols, negative air pressure system specifications, personal protective equipment standards, decontamination procedures, disposal methods, and final visual and air clearance testing protocols. The project mandates compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations, and requires specialized personnel with specific training and certifications. Contractors must provide comprehensive documentation, including an Asbestos Hazard Abatement Plan, detailed worker qualifications, medical surveillance records, and submit to rigorous monitoring and testing throughout the abatement process. The specifications emphasize safety, environmental protection, and meticulous procedural compliance during all phases of asbestos removal and facility decontamination.
