About this file

This is a Purchase Description (PD) for India White Trousers, Men's, approved for use by the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point. The document specifies comprehensive requirements for manufacturing men's white dress trousers intended for wear by male cadets.

The trousers are available in multiple sizes ranging from hip size 34 to 60, with inseam lengths from 28 to 37+ inches unhemmed. Key design features include no belt loops or ornamental braid, a sewn-on waistband with buttonhole and sewn eyelet closure, and left-over-right waistband closure for all types. Material specifications require a polyester/cotton twill shell fabric (Local Stock Number C0053) treated with optical brightener and soil release finish in white, with 50/50 polyester/cotton lining material conforming to Class 1 of A-A-52106. Components include non-separating slide fasteners with automatic lock sliders (Type I, Style 4 per A-A-55634), 30 ligne nickel/silver flat buttons, and polyester core thread in matching colors. Construction requires 10-14 stitches per inch using primarily 301 and 401 stitch types with seam allowances of 3/8-inch. The finished trousers must meet dimensional stability requirements of 3.0 percent maximum after two laundering or dry cleaning cycles, and achieve a minimum soil release rating of 3.5 after one laundering cycle. Visual inspection criteria assess defects across shade, component parts, stitching, buttons, buttonholes, slide fasteners, pockets, darts, waistband, pressing, cleanliness, workmanship, and labels. First article inspection, conformance inspection, and component/end item testing are required when specified in acquisition documents, with sampling performed per ASQ/ANSI Z1.4. Assigned NSNs are provided for each size and length combination, with the FSC code 8405 designating men's trousers.
