Double-click the file to start the installation.

7.7. Setup of UniWare GUI

Create the folders “C:\Unitechnik\Warehouse\”.

The next step is to copy the script “startGui.cmd” from “G:\Unitechnik\Warehouse\……\IcsClient” to “C:\Unitechnik\Warehouse\…….”.

Then copy a shortcut of the script into the folder “C:\Documents and

Settings\ws.ICSDOVER\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.

During the Windows Log On this will be executed and copies automatically the actual release of the GUI from the server disk to the local disk.

Then the GUI will be started automatically and the Login dialog appears.

startGui.cmd :

To make sure that the script is executed properly, make sure that the Shared Name

“ICSCLUSTER” is accessible and also the folder “ICSClient”.

For example send a PING to the IP address 192.168.0.3, which is similar to the shared name “ICSCLUSTER” (refer to chapter “IP Addresses”).

If the application is closed, the script automatically restarts the application.

7.8. Install UltraVNC Server for Remote Access

Copy from ICSSRV1 D:\Tools\_Setup\UltraVNC the executable file to the local disk. Make sure that you install at least release 1.0.2, better 1.0.4.

Start the installation by double-clicking. Setup the VNC Server as a Windows Service.

Ask Unitechnik for the he password of incoming connections.

After rebooting the PC verify that you see the icon of the UltraVNC Server in the Taskbar!

The UltraVNC Viewer connection to the PC at “Staging Dock 40” and “Server-2” requires the security plug-in “MSRC4Plugin_NoReg.dsm”. Otherwise the UltraVNC Server application on the target PC hangs up.

7.9. Change the Windows Shell to UniWare-GUI

Start “RegEdit” and modify the marked “Shell” key to

“C:\Unitechnik\Warehouse\…\StartGui.cmd”.

8. UniWare Base-Architecture

This chapter describes the basic ideas, on which the realization of UniWare based.

8.1. Runtime- and Programming-Environment

UniWare has the following prerequisites to the runtime surroundings:

Machine platform: Must be supported by J2SE (Java 2 Standard Edition) 5.0 (also know as 1.5.0).

Operating system: Windows 2000 or XP or 2003. The support of other operating systems should be possible, because of the platform independence of Java..

Database: Oracle 9.2.0, future Oracle 10g

Virtual Machine: J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 from SUN

The development environment uses the following tools:

J2SE Development Kit 5.0 (instead of J2SE Runtime Environment)

Eclipse 3.1 M4 with Visual Editor 1.0.2 (incl. of the necessary eclipse-Modules EMF 2.0.1, GEF

3.0.1); future eclipse 3.1 with Visual Editor 1.1

Versioning system CVS

CVS-Server (CVSNT 2.0.58b)

WinCvs starting with Version 1.2

8.2. Separating the Base and the Project

8.2.1. Purpose

With the separation of the UniWare applications into a base and a project part the following targets are pursued:

Eliminating of redundancies, which arise by the fact that a project is used for another one as a template therefore copied at the beginning of the realization. In this case overhead for the clearing up of the copied Sources of not suitable code arises at first

0467-ICS Dover Air Force Base Page 198 of 206

Guarantee of a continuous further development of the source code by a code base for a project general code. Without separation from base and project the software stages of development would run in different directions in parallel ongoing projects.

Minimizing of the source code which must be created newly for a project. With a growing base more and more formulations can be solved by configuration or small extensions.

Standardization of the solution frames. A uniform base shortens the training periods of the developer in other projects considerably. On the one hand less more project-specifically program code exists and on the other hand the base “defines” the structure and therefore too more similar approaches leads.

8.2.2. Separating the program code by using a „factory“

The base software contains basic functions, which are independent of concrete projects:

Process frame with transaction safety mechanism and message handling

Logging

Statistic

Elementary Database-Access

Utility-Functions

Additionally the base software includes also logical functions, e.g. for transport control, transport unit administration, stock administration etc. This is constructed in the form of standard implementations (e.g. transport unit object, standard stock dialogue).

Because of the diversity of variants of logistical applications there is not a good chance that all standard implementations of the base match on a concrete project. There is a good chance that is to refine or to specify numerous classes, if necessary only around marginal things.

Therefore is the possibility in a concrete project of exchanging the standard classes of the base for project-specific implementations.

The remedy to this is the registration of the relevant classes from the base in a factory in which names are provided with references the classes logical. Is accessed a transport unit

0467-ICS Dover Air Force Base Page 199 of 206 object e.g. in the base, this object is not created directly as an instance of the class provided in the base, but over the factory under use of the logical name. Therefore e.g.:

TpuBo tpu = new TpuBo();

will be coded as

TpuBo tpu = (TpuBo) BaseFactory.creObj(“Bo.Tpu”);

Perequisite is, that the class TpuBo is registry in the factory in advance:

BaseFactory.setObj(„Bo.Tpu“, new TpuBo());

If in the current project the class TpuBo does not fullfil 100% the requirements, then the project can derive an own class (here: PrjTpuBo) from TpuBp. This class has to saved in the factory by the same logical name:

BaseFactory.setObj(„Bo.Tpu“, new PrjTpuBo());

The factory provides during the creation of an object for the same logical name “Bo.Tpu”an instance of the class PrjTpuBo instead of TpuBo. The whole program code of the base, which uses the object, is fully functional without any modification. It must be guaranteed, that the registered class of the project is an derivation of the overwritten class.

8.3. From the data model to the business logic

From the data model, whose base and project part exist as XML-files, the following outputs will be generated by the data model editor:

Data access objects (Data Access Objects, DAOs)

Class with information about the structure of the data model (listing of the tables und fields, definition of constants for enumeration types)

HTML-Documentation

U niW are A pplication Tiers

Figure 94: UniWare – Tier Model n-tier application architecture provides a model for developers to create a flexible and reusable application. By breaking up an application into tiers, developers only have to modify or add a specific layer, rather than have to rewrite the entire application over, if they decide to change technologies or scale up.

0467-ICS Dover Air Force Base Page 201 of 206

The UniWare applications are build as a 3-tier model. To optimize the data access the presentation tier has read access directly to the database. All modification actions use the way from presentation tier over the booking layer of the business tier to the data tier.

8.5. Process Architecture

A typical UniWare application consists of the following processes (diagram without

QueueServer and the logical communication directly between the processes)

Comm (Kommunikation)

Booking (Verbuchung)

Assign (Auftragsdisposition)

Planning (Planung)

CommPlc CommHost

BookP01Etv BookP02

AsgnP01Etv AsgnP02

BookHost BookGui

Figure 95: UniWare – Process Architecture

Communication layer: Communication process to the Host level and to the Programmable Logical

Control (PLC) level. The received messages are written into a transfer table MsgExtIn. Sending messages are taken from the transfer table MsgExtOut.

Booking layer: Processes to book external messages (from PLC’s, Host and Client PC’s). The booking processes take the messages from the table MsgExtIn.

Assigning layer: These processes determine the next order for a device (e.g. the next transport order for a stacker crane) They will be triggered from the lower layer by equipment status changes and from the upper layer by generated transport orders.

Planning layer: These processes manage the item stock and the item requests. Based on this they make the decision to make reservations and generate transport orders.

The diagram does not show all possible communication relations. It is a sample and varies depending on the project requirements. The communication relations result from the configuration of the following tables:

Conn.ProcName: name of the process, which handles the physical communication (e.g. CommPlc, CommHost

Conn.ProcNameBook: name of the process, which handles the booking of the messages, which will be received by the connections (e.g. BookP01Etv, BookHost)

Eqp.ProcName: name of the process, which handles the orders to the devices (e.g. AsgnEtv).

9. Daily Administration

The following table describes the basic tasks for the Cluster Server.

No Task How-To

1 Check disk space. C: / D: / H: / I: / G:

2 RMAN script is working ? 1. Check that the archive files are deleted. Only from current day should be in the folder.

2. Check that there are 2 backups of the database (Yesterday and day before).

No Task How-To

3 Are all processes online ? Cluster Administrator: Application Group

Database Group

4 CPU usage Check with “ProcessExplorer” the CPU usage as

TOTAL.

If there is a permanent high CPU Usage (e.g. > 80%), then check which are the top processes.

5 Check the Oracle Alert Log for errors.

C:\oracle\admin\UNIWARE\bdump\alert_uniware.log

Search for the string "ORA-", which indicates an error.

6 Check the Windows Event Logs for errors and warnings.

System Events.

Application Events.

Security Events.

8 Execute “Microsoft Product Support Reporting Tool” to generate a report (CAB file), which could be send to Unitechnik-Germany for further analysis.

Located in the folder D:\Tools\...

Double-click on the EXE.

Information and files will be collected automatically.

Check the files for atypical entries.

9 Check Cluster Log File. Check this log file in case of errors with the cluster.
