About this file
This Request for Information (RFI) concerns the Repair Fire Suppression System project at Maintenance Hanger B2280 located at Tinker Air Force Base. The RFI addresses a technical issue with light fixture placement in the Fire Alarm Room, specifically regarding three 1'x4' light fixtures added by Amendment #04 that would clash with structural CFMF joists. The contractor requested clarification on whether the light fixture layout could be revised to parallel with the joists and fit between them to reduce structural modification costs.
The government's response, provided by Edward Cardona from HDR, recommends that the contractor provide a Lithonia ZL1D-L48-5000LM-FLTMVOLT-40K-8CRI-E10W-WH-WGZ48 lighting fixture and surface mount it to the gyp board ceiling, as indicated in an attached sketch. The RFI was submitted on 08/18/2025 by Chris Brezny from Nemecek Interior Construction and received a response on 09/12/2025, with the primary goal of resolving the lighting fixture installation challenge while minimizing additional structural work.

Information Needed: Amendment #04 added (3) 1’x4’ Light Fixtures to the Fire Alarm Room per 1/E-401 & 1/A-401. These fixtures are recessed in the Fire Rated Ceiling and would clash with the structural CFMF Joists. Can the lights fixture layout be revised so they parallel with the joists and fit between the joists? These would eliminate significant structural changes to the joist ceiling, which would reduce costs. If the light fixtures cannot be relocated, please provide updated structural detail for blockout.
