Questions From FBO, 31 March 2010

Responses Dated 05 April 2010 in Red Text

50. After award of the contract will the USAFA provide a complete copy of the AutoCAD drawings for this project? If not, will the successful offeror be able to obtain the

AutoCAD drawings and if so at what cost?

RESPONSE: A copy of the AutoCAD Drawings will be provided to the Contractor after award at no extra cost.

51. Specification section 09 31 00 indicates a lifetime warranty on the Natatorium Pool thin set tile this not achievable or customary. Is the USAFA aware of a supplier or subcontractor who can provide this lifetime warranty? If so please provide that information. A typical warranty period would be 1 to 5 years. Please clarify.

RESPONSE: This warranty refers to the waterproofing, not the tile. Please note: the lifetime warranty is predicated on whether the manufacturers of the waterproofing, grout, and mortar, as well as the tile installer, agree that the proposed installation is a "complete system."

However, a five year warranty will be acceptable. (This will be incorporated into the

Solicitation Specifications through a forthcoming Amendment)

52. Drawings M112 and 113 show two scales. One is ¼”=1’-0” and the other is 1/8” = 1’-

0”. Which is correct?

RESPONSE: The ¼” scale is correct for the drawings at full scale. The bar scale is provided so that when the sheets are reduced to half size, there is still a scale that works.

So at half size the 1/8” scale is also correct, but for these two sheets, the 1/8” scale is superfluous.

53. Paragraph 23 05 00-3.04B indicates that 25% of the pipe welds require x-ray. We assume this to be butt-welds on pipe 2-1/2” and over, however do you want this on low pressure systems such as MTHW as well as High pressure systems such as HTHW?

RESPONSE: X-ray 25% of HTHW, Contractor to provide a visual inspection report.

54. Paragraph 23 05 29-1.04.C requires seismic restraint on hangers and equipment. There is no specification for seismic. Should we follow SMACNA industry guide lines for pipe, duct and equipment?

RESPONSE: Follow SMACNA industry guidelines.

55. Document Reference: Plan Sheet A144

Question: Note on floor plan A144 indicates that the Center Gym Vestibule flooring is to be patched and repaired. We cannot locate detail showing type of flooring/base and extent of repair and/or replacement work. Please clarify.

RESPONSE: The finish in the main east-west Corridor is exposed concrete, to be cleaned and polished toward the end of the construction work.

56. Document Reference: Plan Sheet S530

Question: Welded wire fabric is not detailed (or noted) for the new topping slabs at the Aikido and Karate rooms. Is welded wire fabric or some other type of reinforcement required? If so please specify.

RESPONSE: The floor slab and metal deck is indicated as D1 on Sheet S132. The Deck

Schedule is indicated on Sheet S511, and the welded wire fabric requirement is indicated for D1 in the schedule.

57. Amendment 001 dated January 12, 2010 item 42 indicates to replace the filtration system at the Polo Pool that is the same equipment as the Natatorium Pool. Is there a design for the system required at the Polo Pool?

RESPONSE: The new filtration system at the Polo Pool would be the same basic system used at the Natatorium Pool, sized as required to serve the Polo Pool.
