About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for Solicitation FA462525R0004 for Whiteman AFB Temporary Lodging Facilities Roofing Replacement. The Q&A addresses five key inquiries from potential contractors, including details about asbestos testing, contract set-aside status, and roofing specifications. Specifically, the government clarified that: 1) contractors must independently test carports for asbestos and submit sample results, 2) the opportunity is not set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB), and 3) rafter replacements are only required for carports on buildings B3001 and B3003.
The document indicates that no design drawings or specifications exist for the project, with all requirements outlined in the statement of work. Contractors are instructed to replace attic vents in a style matching existing vents, and the project appears to involve roof replacement for multiple buildings totaling approximately 27,882 square feet at Whiteman Air Force Base, under the Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command.

Answer: No, the government does not have an asbestos report for the carports. The contractor will be responsible for testing each carport for asbestos and submitting a summary of the results for each sample taken.
2. Is this opportunity a set aside for SDVOSB or no?
Answer: No, it is not a set-aside.
3. In regard to the rafters/trusses are only the carports needing to be redone or potentially above the livable area as well?
Answer: Only the rafters on the carports of buildings B3001 and B3003 need to be replaced, according to the government’s knowledge.
4. Do you want ridge vent quoted as an option or only regular attic vents? Ridge vents will increase the ventilation and air flow and help extend the life of the roof.
Answer: Replace the attic vents in like-style to the existing vents.
5. I was hoping to get plans and specs for this project prior to the walk through on April 7th.
Answer: There are no design drawings/specifications for the project. All requirements are outlined in the statement of work.
