About this file

This memorandum outlines an Offutt Air Force Base face covering policy. The policy requires all individuals on the installation to wear cloth face coverings covering both the mouth and nose when within six feet of others, with exceptions for children under two and those unable to wear a mask. Face coverings must be worn in all FSS facilities including childcare and dining, the Exchange, Commissary, medical clinic, and government vehicles with multiple occupants. Either issued masks or personal conservative face coverings are allowed in uniform or on base. Exceptions require approval from the 55th Wing Vice Commander. The policy remains effective until rescinded by the Commander.

DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE

HEADQUARTERS, 55TH WING (ACC)

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, NEBRASKA

The Sun Never Sets on the Fightin’ Fifty-Fifth

24 July 2020

MEMORANDUM FOR OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE PERSONNEL

FROM: 55 WG/CC

SUBJECT: Offutt Air Force Base Face Covering Policy, Amendment 3

Reference: AF/A1 Memo, Department of the Air Force Guidance on Use of Cloth Face

Coverings, 5 April 2020

1. To maintain our aggressive efforts to protect our Airmen, preserve the mission, and flatten the COVID-19 curve, I have defined the policy on face coverings on Offutt AFB. The following guidance is for all military members, DoD civilian employees, family members, and all other individuals on Offutt Air Force Base.

2. Effective immediately, all individuals on the installation, to include TDY members, are required to wear cloth face coverings that provide full coverage of both the mouth and nose when they cannot maintain six feet of physical distance from other personnel (this does not include personal residences on the installation). Face coverings are required to be worn at all times at all FSS-operated activities/facilities, including the Child Development Centers, Child and Youth Programs, and the Dining Facility (while standing in line), in addition to the Base Exchange, Express, Commissary, Envision, Drug Demand Reduction, Ehrling Bergquist Clinic, and while riding in or driving a government-provided vehicle with two or more occupants (i.e. shuttle, bus, or surrey). Children under the age of two, and anyone who has trouble breathing or is unable to remove the mask without assistance are exempt from this policy. Medical exemptions beyond these categories must be coordinated through the member’s medical provider.

3. Either personal face coverings or issued face masks may be worn while in uniform or in civilian attire. Personally-procured or personally-made face coverings, when worn in uniform or on Offutt AFB, will be conservative in nature and professional, so as to be complementary to our military’s image.

4. Exceptions to this policy will be coordinated through 55th Wing Public Health for 55th Wing Vice Commander approval.

5. This letter will remain in effect until specifically rescinded by me.
