4. PROJECT ELEMENTS

4.0 The project will contain, but is not limited to, the following elements:

4.1 MECHANICAL:

4.1.1 NOTE: Although described below as a single task, completion of this work will be phased so that only 1-2 units are down at one time. The replaced units must be completely operational before moving on to the next unit/set of units.

4.1.2 Isolate/kill power to existing condensing units and air handler units. Disconnect existing wiring.

4.1.3 Remove and dispose of (24 each) 1-1/2 ton split system HVAC units. Each unit shall consist of the condenser unit and air handler unit. Existing supply air duct to remain in place. NOTE: Recover and legally dispose of refrigerant from each unit prior to removal.

4.1.4 Remove and dispose of the existing copper supply and return line sets. Existing line sets run from the Air Handler unit into and up inside the wall separating the mechanical closet and storage closet. They enter the attic space and travel to the exterior wall where they go down inside the wall to below grade, then over to the condensing unit.

The new line sets and control wiring will be ran from the Air Handler unit to the wall separating the mechanical closet and storage closet up to the attic space (surface mounted) then over to the exterior wall where they will penetrate the exterior wall above the soffit and surface mounted down to grade and over to the condensing unit. The liquid and suction lines are not required to be in PVC on the interior of the facility, but only for the exterior portions.

4.1.5 The existing condensate drain line to each unit will remain in place. These are piped underground and terminate at a location other than the unit.

4.1.6 Remove and dispose of the existing thermostat for each unit as well as the cabling between the unit and thermostat.

4.1.7 Provide and install (24 each) new 1-1/2 ton, air cooled, condensing units with 4kw strip heater installed in AHU duct. Available electric service available is 230v, 1 phase, 60 Hz.

4.1.8 Install new 1/2” insulated copper supply and return line sets as described in Paragraph

4.1.5 for each of the 24 units. Make required connections at AHU and Condensing unit.

4.1.9 Provide and install 24 new low voltage, programmable thermostats with heating/cooling, clock and backlit LED display. Install new thermostat cabling. All exterior wiring shall be installed in liquid tight conduit. Thermostat location will be at existing location.

4.1.10 Perform a leak test on new copper line sets.

4.1.11 Reconnect existing electrical wiring to the condensing unit and air handling unit. Test each unit to ensure both heating and cooling modes operate properly.
