Information Technology (IT)

Program Integrator IT Responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions. This includes directing all IT operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions.

Audio/Visual Engineer Craftsman/Upper Level Generate computer-based digital –video, 2D and 3D animation, page-layout design for desktop publishing of short to long documents, design large format poster and chart products using page layout design techniques integrating graphics as well as multimedia/audio-visual presentation slide support. Be proficient in all aspects of video and DVD production, storyboarding, and use of multiple cameras, DVD authoring and video editing. Be proficient in still photography shooting and editing

Configuration Management Specialist Craftsman/Upper Level The configuration manager will support government IT Operations organization and assist with ordering of IT hardware and software, as well as manage processes, strategies, and technologies that support a full lifecycle approach to managing all IT assets. IT Asset Management covers a wide spectrum of responsibility, including aiding with asset requests, approvals, procurement, receipt, setup, installation, repairs, changes, upgrades, moves, analysis, and disposal of assets.

Computer Maintenance Support Technician Craftsman/Upper Level Installation of audiovisual systems – including VTCs, TVs, rack fabrication, site preparation, termination and calibration of audio and video equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with audio, video, switching and control systems. Conduct testing of AV cables and or equipment. Troubleshoot and repair high end computers and printers. Track all maintenance agreements, warranties and suggest new ones.

Systems Engineer Craftsman/Upper Level Performs high level systems analysis, evaluation, design, integration, and documentation. Creates and maintains circuit drawings and configurations. Participates in all phases of system development with emphasis on planning, analysis, evaluation, integration, testing, and acceptance phases. Does technical solutions for customer requirements. Tests, experiments, implements, and supports system components and capabilities. Applies higher level of business or technical principles and methods to very difficult technical problems to arrive at automated engineering solution.

Maintains confidentiality with regard to information being processed, stored, or accessed. Documents programming problems and resolutions for future reference.

Cable Management Journeyman/Mid Level Responsible for cabling and termination of Cat3, Cat5, Cat6, CATV, Fiber, and various other wiring disciplines. The position includes the testing and troubleshooting of wire and fiber problems. Responsible for running new cabling in new or existing buildings. Termination and testing of new cabling. Responsible for testing and troubleshooting of cable. Setting up new telecommunications frames. Document cable and routing diagrams.

Cyber Security Engineer Craftsman/Upper Level Provide guidance assistance to all levels of C&A technical and non-technical personnel. Put C&A packages together and submit them to the proper agency. Track and report the status to the customer. Document existing and proposed information architecture to convey compliance, problems, and solutions. Resolve incidents and breaches, mitigating problems, and informing key personnel. Analyze networks to identify vulnerabilities and reduce breaches. Develop and implement scanning and certification plans for network control and maintenance. Assist the Government in performing threat assessments to determine if potential threats to a system/network exist and the likelihood of that threat actually occurring to the system. Assist in ensuring that IA and IA-enabled software, hardware, and firmware comply with appropriate security configuration guidelines. Assist in executing all security tests and evaluations and support the creation of comprehensive threat and risk assessment reports.

Information Technology Support TechnicianJourneyman/Mid LevelThe IT Help Desk Technicians are responsible for fielding end user IT trouble tickets involving software and hardware issues. The personnel will be responsible for ensuring the health of our end users' IT assets and their consistent availability and uptime. This is a strong customer service/technical position that requires individuals with patient yet a steadfast approach to solving problems and Fielding /Closing IT Help Desk tickets. Experience with installation and troubleshooting of Windows and Apple PCs , Network printers, and Software troubleshooting and configuration. General network troubleshooting. Setup new PCs for new employees and various other IT specific tasks.

Network Engineer Craftsman/Upper Level Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards. Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network and system problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization. Secures network systems by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access. Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed. Report network operational status to the government.

Software Engineer Craftsman/Upper Level Reviewing current systems. Present ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals. Work closely with analysts, designers customers and staff. Produce detailed specifications and write the program codes. Test the product in controlled, real situations before going live. Prepare training manuals for users. Maintain the systems once they are up and running.

VTC Operator/scheduler Journeyman/Mid Level Responsible for scheduling, monitoring, and Tier I through Tier III operations and maintenance of unclass and secure VTC systems. Schedule and establish VTCs and conduct routine operational tests and fault isolation on VTC electronic systems and equipment. Optimize systems operation and resource utilization. Provide assistance and training to users in accessing and using systems.Continuously monitor all component equipment and take the appropriate corrective action for restoral to operational readiness.

Distributed Mission Operations Center for Space (DMOC-S)

System EngineerJourneyman/Mid LevelProvides systems analysis, planning, designing, evaluating, selection of operational systems and protocols and configuration/troubleshooting of network systems and other devices. Provides support for implementation of IT systems. Resolves interoperability problems to ensure operations across all network equipment. Assists with the development of objectives, requirements, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), and processes.
Craftsman/Upper LevelProvides systems analysis, planning, designing, evaluating, selection of operational systems and protocols and configuration/troubleshooting of network systems and other devices. Provides support for implementation of IT systems. Resolves interoperability problems to ensure operations across all network equipment. Assists with the development of objectives, requirements, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), and processes. Provides technical direction for personnel performing software development tasks, including the review of work products for corectness, adherence to the design concept/CONOPS and to user standards, and for progress in accordance with schedules. Prepares milestone status reports and analysis related to the design, development and integration of hardware, software, and all system level requirements. Develops integrated system test requriements, strategies, devices and systems. Directs overall system level testing.
Operations SpecialistJourneyman/Mid LevelProvides technical knowledge and skill in using specialized applications. Serves as technical expert in operational areas relevant to the planning and execution of projects. Experienced in the operational environment and in using high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, and implementation methodologies on moderately complex problems which require in-depth knowledge of the subject matter. Applies principles, methods adn knowledge of the functional area of capability to specific task order requirements. Plans and executes operational aspects of exercises, demonstrations, experiments, system assessments, and war games. Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of product or service, and suggests changes to increase efficiency.

Ensures conformance with program schedules, costs and performance metrics. Responsible for integrating various functions, including planning, programming, budgeting, scheduling, financial management execution, contracting, cost/risk analysis, engineering, and/or logistics planning. Manages a team of project support personnel.

17th Test Squadron (17 TS)

Cybersecurity Specialist Craftsman/Upper Level Establishes specialized techniques to ensure that an organization’s network is safe from cyberattacks. Develops and executes test plans to determine the vulnerability of a system’s computer network(s) from internal and external threats. Reviews and researches the system under test to determine which cybersecurity controls to test and the appropriate cybersecurity test strategy to execute. Provides status updates and deficiencies to test team members and senior squadron leadership on cybersecurity test results during and after a system evaluation. Recommend new security measures to enhance network safety and stay up-to-date by conducting research on the latest issues within the cybersecurity community. Develops individualized plans for specific test needs with respect to cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

Operations Research Specialist Craftsman/Upper Level Develop and apply mathematical and statistical modeling techniques as well as other methods to develop and interpret information that assists squadron leadership with decision-making and/or other operational test related analysis functions. May help develop related software tools/products and reviews/develops robust test analysis designs to ensure coverage of the test space and assess system effectiveness and suitability. Frequently concentrates on collecting and analyzing data as well as defining data requirements in order to properly and comprehensively report results to various customers and review the work of other unit test analysts. Involved in identifying indications of system performance, corrective measures that need to be taken, and how to report them through squadron processes. May create, conduct, design and evaluate experimental operational models where insufficient data exists to formulate results with the given information. Knowledge of calculus and statistics (to include Design of Experiments and Combinatorial Testing) is desired. Experience with MATLAB, Design-Expert and JMP is also desired.

Software Developer Journeyman/Mid Level Develops and designs hardware and software systems for operational test and evaluations utilizing various techniques of computer science, mathematics and engineering. Provides squadron leadership with analysis of software requirements with regards to the appropriate level of design for tests within cost and time parameters. Frequently interacts with customers and vendors concerning improvements and maintenance to the software that is being utilized. Coordinates and/or assists in the installation and removal of new or existing systems. Develops /designs software systems using scientific and mathematical models to predict consequences of a particular design and assist in data reduction.

Ability to computer program a must. Knowledge of calculus and statistics is desired. Experience with MATLAB, Design-Expert and JMP is desired.

Test Analyst Journeyman/Mid Level Analyzes software and hardware requirements to ensure feasibility of design and test. Uses Design of Experiments and Combinatorial testing techniques as required. Develops test procedures to verify requirements and to ensure deficiencies are adequately tested with new releases and upgrades. Generates test reports containing data analyses and recommendations for field, do not field or field with limitations results. Subject matter expert providing testing expertise in support of operational test and evaluation of space systems. Directs and/or participates in all phases (planning, execution, analysis, reporting and closeout) of test management with the emphasis on user requirements, test design and test tool selection. Analyzes recorded data collected during test evaluations and reports out independent findings as prescribed by squadron guidance. Provides an independent assessment of how the system under test performs with regards to customer statement of requirements. Provides regular progress reports, either verbally or in written report form, of the ongoing evaluation throughout the entire test process as prescribed and as requested.

Experience with statistics and computer programs MATLAB, Design-Expert and JMP is desired.

Plans tests, establishes criteria, assesses program effectiveness, or investigates and analyzes unusual testing conditions, problems, or questions. Applies knowledge of statistical methods, procedures, and techniques, to the collection, processing, compilation, computation, analysis, editing, and presentation of statistical data. The work does not require the application of professional knowledge of statistics or other disciplines. Able to understand and execute analysis and test operational guidance. Able to work independently with minimal assistance in the planning and execution of an operational test.

Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager
