MISSILE WARNING AND DEFENSE SYSTEM OPERATIONS (MWDSO)
1.0 PURPOSE.
2.0
The purpose of the MWDSO is to evaluate the performance of aircraft missile warning systems (MWS) and defense systems during dynamic flight testing and ground based missile fly-outs.
GENERAL.
2.1. The MWDSO consists of systems (hardware and software) to test aircraft MWSs and to provide data on missile plume signatures. The MWDSO includes MWS stimulators, missile plume simulators, and missile launch equipment. Data provided by the MWDSO are classified up to SECRET.
2.2. The MWDSO provides the capabilities to:
2.2.1. Develop, validate, and conduct MWS missile fly-out simulations. This capability involves a complex set of algorithms and missile plume data classified up to SECRET.
Validated Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Command (AFOTEC) processes are used to develop and verify simulations.
2.2.2. Stimulate MWS aircraft during dynamic flight test events to evaluate the performance of defensive systems.
2.2.3. Conduct man-portable air defense (MANPAD) missile launches to characterize missile plumes and evaluate MWS effectiveness.
3.0
3.1. The Contractor shall operate and maintain, as directed by task, the MWDSO systems and equipment, including:
CAPABILITIES.
3.1.1. Three Mallina ultra-violet MWS stimulators and associated computers, software, and mounts.
3.1.2. MANPAD launch and data recording equipment, including:
1. Trailer mounted missile launcher systems.
2. MANPAD grip stocks.
3. Missile seeker data recording equipment.
4. Surface-to-air missile (SAM) transporter, erector, launcher vehicle
(maintained under "SAM Systems", Appendix B7, Table B7-1).
3.1.3. Seeker/Sensor/Signature Ground Platforms. These platforms are a collection of vehicles, trailers, tracking mounts, and ancillary equipment designed to support the evaluation of seeker-signature performance and the collection of signatures on various

The ground platforms include the Seeker Test Van (STV) and associated generator; the Radiometric Instrumentation Test System (RITS) truck and associated generator; two Eglin Mobile Missile Launcher Systems (EMMLS); Rhino truck and associated generator; General Electro-Optic Test System (GETS) van and associated generator; Missile Warning Sensor Stimulator (MWSS) including truck, trailer, and associated generator; STV & GETS Kineto Tracking Mounts (KTM) and clam shells; Thermal Image Processing System (TIPS) van; and Santa Rosa Island (SRI) Tower KTM. The STV is a ground-based infrared (IR) data collection platform, operated and maintained by 782TS/TSWI, including a 54-foot trailer containing sixteen racks of control, display, communication, and recording electronics and has three seeker control stations, two Contraves Kineto tracking mounts (KTM), and a test support vehicle (TSV).
Each KTM has been modified with a mirror tracking platform to meet the special requirements of seeker testing. The TSV is used to transport and supply power to the KTM and to provide additional work space for special test requirements. The SRI Tower KTM is a specially modified KTM that can be placed on the 300-foot SRI tower (Appendix D4) or can be operated from its trailer. The Contractor shall provide maintenance on the ground platforms as directed by task.
3.2. The Contractor shall maintain a close relationship with the 782TS/TSWI, AFOTEC, and the Missile and Space Intelligence Command to generate and validate missile plume simulations.
3.3. The Contractor shall conduct operations on the ETTC and at remote temporary duty locations. The Contractor shall provide operational support and transportation / relocation as tasked for the MWDSO systems and equipment.
3.4. The Contractor shall conduct ground-to-ground tests and shall support airborne tests IAW tasks and test directives.
