APPENDIX B2B
MUNITIONS ANALYSIS FACILITY (MAF), TA C-74A
1.0 PURPOSE. The purpose of the MAF is to investigate internal conditions and damage to munitions items and to exploit foreign munitions.
2.0 GENERAL.
2.1. The MAF is located approximately 24 miles northeast of Eglin main base, reached via State Roads (SRs) 20 and 285 and Range Road (RR) 213. The MAF determines the internal condition of munitions items by nondestructive (X-ray or disassembly) or destructive (sectioning) techniques. This includes exploitation of foreign munitions.
2.2. The MAF is used to study the effect that target impact has on the munitions structure and high-explosive fill. The MAF is also used for nondestructive study of munitions before target impact. The facility is located near the TA C-74 sled track so that impact-damaged munitions may be transported without requiring access to public roads. Typically, a bomb or rocket motor is subjected to a complete radiographic inspection to determine its post-impact internal condition and then sectioned (sawing the item into slices) to study the internal damage.
3.0 CAPABILITIES.
3.1. The Contractor shall operate and maintain the MAF and associated systems and equipment, including:
3.1.1. X-ray facility (building 9532), including:
1. Industrial X-ray system.
2. X-ray film processor.
3. Surveillance CCTV system, including monitors, cameras, and pan/tilt units.
4. Communications.
5. Associated controls and safety/alarm devices.
3.1.2. Saw facility (building 8954), including:
1. Remote-controlled (from building 9532) 24-inch industrial liquid-cooled power hacksaw with 3-foot by 4½-inch blade.
2. Remote-controlled surveillance CCTV system (from building 9532), including monitors, cameras, and pan/tilt units.
3. Communications.
4. Associated controls and safety/alarm devices.
3.1.3. Munitions buildup facility (building 9521), including:
1. Overhead hoist.
2. Munitions buildup table.

3. Static grounding system.
4. Air compressor.
5. Specialized hand and power tools.
3.2. The Contractor shall provide MAF support IAW tasks and test directives.
3.3. The contractor shall maintain and operate the vehicles identified in Table B2B-1 in accordance with requirements established in TRD A3. Co-utilization of vehicles from and to other Contractor operated and maintained facilities is an acceptable means for satisfying vehicle shortages due to surge support requirements.
