APPENDIX C10
RANGE TIMING AND DATA RELAY FACILITY (RTDRF)
1.0 PURPOSE. The purpose of the Range Timing and Data Relay Facility (RTDRF) is to transmit Range Slaving System (RSS) data (commonly called secondary data), provide a central location for maintenance of numerous GPS Synchronized Time Code Generators (TCGs), and provide a location for sites B4A & B4B to remotely operate their respective sites.
2.0 GENERAL.
2.1. The RTDRF is located on Eglin main base in building 129, adjacent to King Hangar.
2.2. The RSS data transmitted from RTDRF is received via fiber optic cable from the Eglin Range Communications Facility (ERCF) in building 44. The RSS data originates at Test Sites A-20 and C-10. IRIG B modulated time code can also be transmitted from RTDRF if needed.
2.3. Principal features of this facility are:
2.3.1. Rooftop antenna towers on adjacent buildings 129 & 130 (used to transmit on either and/or both of the two dedicated UHF frequencies assigned).
2.3.2. Redundant GPS Synchronized Time Code Generator’s (TCGs) with error detecting circuits. One GPS Synchronized TCG used as primary IRIG-B TCG and time code reference, a second identical TCG is used as backup.
2.3.3. Dual UHF Transmitter Systems. Each system consists of two transmitters.
2.3.4. Backup UHF Transmitter system. .
2.3.5. . GPS Synchronized TCG maintenance/test area used to perform scheduled and/or unscheduled maintenance on many of these units used on the O&M contract.
2.3.6. Fiber Optic Time Code Generator System supplies network time to the Range Information Grid., IRIG A & B Time codes along with some pulse rates can be sent to any site having a time code translator synchronized to the RTDRF system.
3.0 CAPABILITIES.
3.1. The Contractor shall operate and maintain the RTDRF and associated systems and the system support equipment listed below under each system:
1. UHF Transmitter System (2 each)
• Fault Chassis
• Modulation Terminal Unit (MTU)
• MTU Input Selection Chassis
• AGC Amplifier Chassis
• UPS Chassis
• Secondary Data Generator Chassis
