The specification details a comprehensive eight-foot class mainline and commercial type paver with variable width electric heat, vibratory and tamping screed featuring automated sonic grade and slope control. The equipment must be capable of extending hydraulically from eight feet to a minimum of fifteen feet in paving width, accommodate adjustable paving thicknesses up to twelve inches, and maintain constant paving speeds up to 250 feet per minute with transport speeds of seven miles per hour. The paver shall weigh a maximum of 41,000 pounds complete with screed and canopy, operate with a minimum fourteen-ton material hopper capacity, and include a current production liquid-cooled diesel engine of approximately 170 gross horsepower meeting Tier 4F emissions standards. Additional required items include four bolt-on screed extensions and three sets of auger extensions with tunnel extensions.

The specification requires a fully hydrostatic drivetrain with infinite variable control, rubberpad crawler tracks, and low-speed high-torque drive motors capable of traction control. The operator's station must be ergonomically designed with adjustable suspension seating, unobstructed paving operation views, and comprehensive console indicators for engine, hydraulic, screed, and hopper functions. The paver shall include electric heating and vibratory systems, automated grade and slope control with sonic sensors, LED work lights, amber safety strobe lighting, and pole-mounted balloon lights for low-light operations. All exterior surfaces shall be manufacturer standard color, and bidders must submit descriptive literature clearly demonstrating compliance with each specification requirement and identifying corresponding page references.
