About this file

This is a pricing schedule and equipment list for a landscape and mowing services contract issued by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Southwest Region/Kalamazoo Transportation Service Center. The contract covers grounds maintenance services at the Carpool Lot located at US-131 and Stadium Drive in Kalamazoo County. Services include mowing, string trimming, blowing grass cuttings, debris removal, spring cleanup of leaves and sticks, and spillway trimming on an alternating cycle basis. The contract has a base term of two years with a start date of April 1, 2026, and an end date of March 31, 2028, with no extension options. The carpool lot operates 24/7, and work will be performed on a schedule determined by the Program Manager. The total acreage under maintenance is approximately 1.17 acres for the green area and 0.05 acres for the red spillway area. Estimated services total 30 mowing occasions per year for the green area, one spring cleanup per year, and 15 spillway trimming occasions per year on alternating cycles.

Bidders must complete a pricing sheet by entering unit prices for each service occasion, with the spreadsheet automatically calculating one-year and two-year costs. Contractors must provide reliable commercial equipment including mowers, string trimmers, and blowers, which must be owned and available at contract start; equipment may be inspected prior to award. The contractor assumes full responsibility for equipment maintenance and backup service in case of mechanical breakdown, as equipment failure is not an acceptable reason for schedule deviations. All contractors must carry liability insurance for property damage incurred during service performance. Invoices should be submitted to Jennifer Simmons, and inquiries regarding contract administration should be directed to ReChelle Kendrick at 517-335-5905 or KendrickR1@michigan.gov, with Mike Streeter serving as the Program Manager at 269-217-7785.
