About this file

This is a pricing schedule and equipment list document for a landscape and mowing services contract issued by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the Carpool Lot located at the US-131 at D Avenue Interchange (Exit 44) in Kalamazoo County. The contract encompasses grounds maintenance services including mowing, string trimming, blowing grass cuttings from parking lots, and removal and disposal of debris and litter across approximately 1.05 acres, with an estimated 30 mowing occasions per year, one spring cleanup event for leaves and sticks, and six optional heavy trash cleanup occasions subject to manager approval. The contract has a base term of two years with no extension options, commencing April 1, 2026, and concluding March 31, 2028. The carpool lot operates 24/7, and work schedules are to be determined by the program manager or contract coordinator. The contract is administered by ReChelle Kendrick with MDOT's Southwest Region/Kalamazoo Transportation Service Center, and the program manager is Mike Streeter.

Bidders must complete the pricing spreadsheet by entering unit prices for each service occasion in the designated column, with the spreadsheet automatically calculating one-year and two-year costs. Contractors are required to provide reliable commercial equipment including mowers, string trimmers, and blowers that must be owned and available at contract start; all equipment may be inspected prior to award. Contractors assume full responsibility for equipment failures and must provide backup service in the event of mechanical breakdown, as equipment failure is not an acceptable reason for schedule deviations. Additionally, contractors are responsible for any property damage incurred during service performance and must make necessary repairs. Invoices should be directed to Jennifer Simmons at MDOT, and interested bidders should contact the contract administrator or program manager for additional information.
