About this file
This Broad Agency Announcement describes a research opportunity related to Composite Airframe Life Extension. The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Research Laboratory seeks proposals to identify, develop, demonstrate and validate technology that will allow the safe extension of the certified service lives of airframes currently in the USAF fleet that contain advanced composite primary structure. The Composite Airframe Life Extension program aims to develop methods to predict the residual strength, durability, damage tolerance and reliability of advanced composite structures throughout the original and any new service life of aircraft without requiring widespread replacement of aged components or repeating demonstration processes. Proposals are sought to address predicting the performance of composite materials and structures over the lifetimes of airframes.
