About this file
This document is a Fire Hydrant Flow Report for Devils Tower National Monument, conducted by Rapid Fire Protection, Inc. on January 29, 2021. The report details a comprehensive water flow test performed at two hydrant locations near the North Seasonal Housing and South Permanent Housing areas. The test utilized two fire hydrants (A and B) with identical specifications: AD/533-G model from 2008, 2.5-inch nozzle diameter, and a nozzle coefficient of 0.9.
Key test results include a static pressure of 68 PSI, a pitot pressure of 8, and a calculated flow of 474 gallons per minute (gpm) when flowing a single 2.5-inch outlet. The water supply is gravity-fed from a water tank, and the test was conducted to assess water flow capabilities for park housing. The additional Water Flow Test Report provides supplementary analysis, indicating potential flow rates of 923 gpm at 20 PSI residual and 1,114 gpm at 0 PSI, which are critical metrics for fire protection and emergency water supply planning at the national monument.

Test Procedure:
(1) Attach the gauge to Hydrant (B) and obtain static pressure.
(2) Remove cap from Hydrant (A) and record nozzle coefficient.
(3) Fully open Hydrant (A) and allow water to flow to clear debris. Obtain pitot pressure in stream of water.
(4) While water is flowing from Hydrant (A), record residual pressure on gauge located at Hydrant (B).
