About this file
This document contains technical specifications for towing lane markings at airfields and heliports. It provides requirements for a single, solid, continuous 6-inch wide white painted stripe to mark towing lanes on taxilanes where aircraft will be towed. Towing lane centerlines on aprons should also be marked with 6-inch wide white lines laid out to maintain minimum clearances. Signage indicating the beginning of towing lanes on aprons must be marked in minimum 24-inch high letters stating "Towway" or "Tow Only."
The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation issued by the Department of the Army Materiel Command Contracting Command Rock Island Arsenal to repair and install mooring eyes at Dirab and KAA military bases.

A significant gap is provided between the yellow taxilane marking and the white towway lane marking to allow the taxiing pilot to see that the towway is not a continuation of the taxilane.
