Mural Approach Used as the backdrop to various section of the exhibit, the murals will be a continuation of the exhibit scene. They work to immerse visitors into the different settings, contributing to the sense of place and time already conveyed through the exhibits, props, and other set-dressing. Refer to the Design Drawings and Text-Graphics Document for overview renderings of murals in context with the exhibits.
Color and Realism
The murals will be in full color and realistic in style. As a continuation of a scene, they need to be immersive with a high degree of detail, especially in the foreground. The foreground should work visually with the built environment through a realistic, almost photographic, attention to detail. Mid-ground and background layers can have less detail.
Scale and Perspective
While certain murals may have different perspectives like looking down the construction, or up at the canyon walls , each scene should be represented at a realistic scale to visitors for the best immersive experience. When people or objects are in the foreground of the mural, they will be life-sized, and shrink with the proper perspective as things recede into the background.
Content references
For the various details in each mural, references have been provided.
Historically accurate depiction of tools and construction details are important.
In all murals, people will also be distinct and look different from each other to best reflect the diverse workforce active during the construction of the Dam.
