About this file
This is a Fiber Project Cost Proposal for the City of Long Beach involving the installation of fiber optic infrastructure. The project, titled Fire Station 8 Fiber Installation Project, requires the vendor to provide labor and parts for installing a fiber optic backbone from Bayshore Library to 2nd Street and Fire Station 8. The scope of work is divided into two phases: Phase 1 involves the installation of 2-way Duraline Microduct along the route from Bayshore Library to Fire Station 8 within existing underground conduit infrastructure, with installation of new pull boxes, fusion splicing of fiber strands, and jetting of Corning's MiniXtend 12-fiber cable into the microduct per manufacturer specifications. Phase 2 encompasses site-specific work at Fire Station 8, including installation of a 2'x3' vault at the northwest corner of 2nd Street and Claremont, conduit installation toward the fire station driveway, installation of an 18"x18" metal pull box, approximately 150 feet of 3" EMT through existing hangars and raceways, core drilling from the first-floor garage to the second floor IT closet, installation of fire-rated backing, two dedicated 20-amp circuits, and termination of all 12 fibers on a 1RU, 12-port LC/LC cassette in an existing four-post rack.
The proposal references Attachment 1, which includes the 2nd Street Fiber Communications Plan containing fiber allocation details and the fiber path route from Fire Station 8 to Bayshore Library. All unused microducts must be capped with manufacturer-approved couplers to prevent debris and ensure proper installation continuity. The vendor is required to provide a certificate of completion to the City of Long Beach upon project completion. No specific pricing terms, contract duration, or award dates are detailed in this cost proposal document.

Fiber Project Cost Proposal
The City has requested that Corning’s MiniXtend fiber cable be installed along with Duraline Microduct for this implementation. Vendor is to provide labor and parts for this example project called Fire Station 8 Fiber Installation Project. The project is to install a fiber optic backbone from Bayshore Library to 2nd St & Fire Station 8 that will utilize Duraline Microduct and MiniXtend fiber cable product(s) and installation procedures.
Duraline Microduct will be installed within existing underground conduit infrastructure, installing new pull boxes; fusion splicing fiber strands and distribution per fiber assignments.
Corning’s MiniXtend fiber will be jetted into Duraline Microduct per manufacture recommendations and procedures. All unused microducts will need to be capped/spliced together with proper couplers to avoid debris, elements and proof of continuity of proper installation per manufacture specifications and future use
Phase 1, Duraline Microduct:
• The installation of a 2-way Duraline Microduct from the Bayshore Library to Fire
Station 8.
• Duraline Microduct sizing will depend on existing conduit infrastructure. Lateral drop(s) for T/C will require 2-way.
• All used and unused microducts shall be capped with approved couplers, from manufacture specification sheet.
• Miniextend 12 fiber shall be jetted into Duraline 2way per manufacturer specification and a certificate of completion shall be to the City of Long Beach.
Phase 2, Fire Station 8:
• Install new 2’X3’ vault at NW corner of 2nd St and Claremont.
• Saw cut and hand trench in front of FS8 to driveway.
• Install (1) 2” conduit towards driveway of FS8.
• Once inside of FS8, install new 18”X18” metal pull box and place approximately
150’ of 3” EMT thought existing hangars and race ways.
• Core drill from 1st-floor garage to penetrate 2nd floor (near stairwell) into the IT closet. Install a fire-rated backboard, two dedicated 20 amp circuits.
• Install 1RU, 12 port LC/LC cassette and terminate all 12 fibers. Assume there is an existing four post rack with space for 1RU.
