Amendment No. 000006, dated 07/14/16 Page 1 of 1
Solicitation Number AG-82FT-S-16-0015
Amendment 000006 – Questions and Answers
Q1.)01 11 00, 1.8D- Coordinate operations that may result in high levels of noise and vibration, odors, or other disruption to Owner occupancy with Owner. Can you more thoroughly define this? For instance, frequent roto-hammering will be necessary to place and install concrete anchors. Hammering, cordless impact drills, etc. can all result in noise that may be considered a nuisance.
A1.) The Owner anticipates construction noise in A-wing. If operations result in an extended and/or high level of noise, vibration, odors, etc that will impact B-wing (which will be occupied for the duration of the contract) the Owner needs to be notified during one of the regular construction meetings prior to the work.
Q2.) 01 15 00, 3.2G- Can you please clarify whether or not the government will provide temporary power for onsite an onsite construction office?
A2.) The contractor will be allowed to utilize existing power onsite, however, if temporary utilities are required the installation and cost is the contractor responsibility – refer to Amendment 5 Question 4.
The government will allow the option for the contractor to utilize existing space in A-wing for a construction office. This will require coordination during pre-work meeting and shall be included in the contractors site plan submittal.
Q3.) 01 15 00, 3.4E- Can you please clarify whether or not pest control will be necessary?
A3.) The contractor will be required to mitigate any pest issues that may arise due to construction operations.
Q4.) Plansheet A9.1, Room Finish Schedule, Room # 108A-Please clarify the ceiling finish. No GWB is indicated on the drawings. Is the ceiling to receive epoxy paint over the metal framing?
A4.) On the Room Finish Schedule this room is labeled with ceiling finish CP-2, Alternate 2 – Epoxy ceiling paint, color to be selected…” In order to provide a clean flat surface for the paint finish, add 5/8” Type ‘X’ GWB over the 6” rafters terminating at the existing concrete plank. Caulk edge for clean appearance.
Q5.) With the removal of both boilers, where will heat for wings B and C be provided from? If we are to provide temp heat in these locations, what is an acceptable form of temp heat? Salamanders? Etc?
A5.) The heat for B and C wing is provided from hot water boilers, with the exception of the steam radiators.
The steam radiators will be replaced with electric and hot water, refer to drawings. Depending on time of year of changeover temporary heat may not be necessary since the steam radiators only serve restrooms and common spaces (mailroom, entryway, etc). Coordinate with CO.
For all service outages during construction refer to “Services/Systems Interruptions Notice” in Attachment 1 – Volume 1 Divisions 0-22, which addresses contractor responsibility for temporary utilities.
Q6.) 6/AD2.2 column line DD/24 has demo note 12, this is not included in the keynotes.
A6.) Omit demo note 12.
Q7.) L-4 AGAR 452.215-71 Instructions for Technical and Business Proposals. As part of the technical proposal work plan are we to provide information concerning only the work involved in the base bid or all alternates?
A7.) The technical proposal should include work concerning both the base bid and all alternates.
Q8.) 051200 1.6 – Fabricator Qualifications. With the small amount of structural steel in this project. Can the requirement of an AISC certified plant be waived?
A8.) Yes.

Amendment No. 000006, dated 07/14/16 Page 2 of 1
Q9.) 078413 1.6 – Installer Qualifications. With the small amount of fire stopping on this project. Can the FM Global or UL certifications be waived?
A9.) No.
Q10.) Please provide a list of all allowed casework manufacturers per spec 123553 1.01 B A10.) Delete Section 1.01B. All casework shall meet the salient characteristics of the products included under Part 2 Products, 2.0 Manufacturers. All reference to “approvals prior to quotation” shall be deleted. The submittals will be reviewed after project award during submittal process. Refer to Amendment 2 Question 2 and spec section 016000 Product Requirements for the Substitution Request Form if an approved equal manufacturer is being proposed.
Q11.) Does an engineer have to stamp any temporary shoring requirements that we may come across?
A11.) If shoring is required for strutural elements than stamped plans will be required.
Q12.) 233113 3.8 A – Is the cleaning of the existing duct system for only wing A?
A12.) Yes.
Q13.) Per Amendment 4 Question 3 we are to reroute the existing fire suppression system. Who currently maintains/monitors this system? Will the system need to be pressure tested and recertified?
A13.) This section of fire sprinkler is simply a small run of pipe with 3 fusible link sprinkler heads. It is not monitored or tied into any type of alarm. After modification per contract it will only need to be refilled. No testing and certification required.
Also, note, other than the small run discussed above, there is not a Fire Suppression System in A-wing, B-wing, or C-wing. The new addition D-wing, is the only area with a monitored Fire Suppression system in the building.
Q14.) Will overhead protection be required at the ADA ramp where we need to do the temporary enclosure?
A14.) There is no work involving an ADA ramp in this contract.
Q15.) Since the majority of the work on the site is interior, will there be a need for us to provide snow removal?
A15.) Contractor shall maintain the staging area, including snow removal as needed.
Q16.) 7/S0.1 shows 24GA rafters and blocking. 11/S0.1 shows 14GA track. Should the rafters and blocking be 14GA as well?
A16.) Rafters are 24GA and track is 14GA. It is acceptable to make rafters 14GA.
Q17.) 054000 1.2 B – as the only CFMF is for a small ceiling area, are shop drawings required?
A17.) No.
Q18.) For all locations requiring that the slab be patched at the mechanical equipment removals, please provide a detail for the type of patching that will be required. If there was finished flooring at a removal location, are we to replace? If yes, is there attic stock or are we to try and match existing?
A18.) When patching slab penetrations, match the existing flooring (if any) to the Contracting Officer’s approval. Patch floor openings per detail 7/S0.1, sim.
