Missoula Fire Sciences Lab Mechanical Upgrade Project Solicitation Number AG-82FT-S-16-0015

Amendment 0004 – Questions and Answers

Q1.) I wanted to touch base on this project and see if we could submit pricing for the interior or exterior sign packages.

A1.) Refer to drawings, specifications and bid schedule for work items. For a proposal to be considered, the contractor must submit a complete package per solicitation requirements. To submit pricing for a portion of the work, coordinate with a bidding General Contractor.

Q2.) I don’t see a material specification for the RO water piping, can you please get me something on that?

A2.) Refer to Specificaion section 226700 REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER PIPING SYSTEMS included in this amendment.

Q3.) Solicitation Section B – Schedule of Items includes item 008 (Division 21 – Fire Suppression), Item 012 (Division 27 – Communications) and Item 013 (Division 28 – Alarm Systems). However, there are no specifications provided in the documents for divisions 21, 27 or 28. Is there any work associated with these items?

A3.) Division 21 Fire Suppression: Contractor shall field-verify to match existing piping materials, fittings, joining methods, and sizes. Types and spacing of hangers and supports shall be per Spec. section 220529. Division 21 scope of work only includes re-routing one section of existing piping and re-using existing sprinkler head. Before proceeding with the work, the Contractor shall notify the Contracting Officer if it appears that supporting the pipe from the wind tunnel above may be required.

Division 27 Telecommunications: Work under Division 27 is shown on the drawings and is a part of the project. All tel/data cabling shall be in 1” conduit where exposed. Above lay-in ceilings the cabling can be run from J-Hooks. Terminations at the tel/data jack with faceplate are to be included in the project. Coil cable with 10ft slack at the telephone terminal board in the C-Wing for the owner to terminate.

Division 28000 Fire Alarm: There are minor modifications to the fire alarm system for the remodeled spaces.

Match the existing system type using the current fire alarm system and provider that is currently maintaining the fire alarm system within the building. Current system is maintained by Dynamark.

Q4.) In 015000, item 3.2.I.1.a mandates that we have dedicated phone lines for each fax machine and computer in our field office. We typically use wireless technology in offices for projects that are less than a year. We also use Air Cards for our cellular service. Document transfer is completed using e mail and FTP sites. Are these satisfactory equivalents for the purposes of this contract?

A4.) Yes.

Q5.) Can we use an existing hose bib to obtain construction water? Since there is minimal civil scope on this project, minimal water should be required.

A5.) Yes.

Q6.) Can you please review the attached for prior-approval?

A6.) Refer to Question 2, Amendment 002.
