The crushed aggregate from this stockpile is suitable for backfill under concrete slabs, sidewalks, and pavement and for backfill of the existing office basement.

The Government Furnished Material includes loading of the crushed aggregate at the stockpile by a representative of Harding County, South

Dakota. The Contractor is not authorized to load any material at Lewton Pit. The Contractor shall provide sufficient trucks to allow expedient loading by a representative of Harding County.

The Contractor shall coordinate the loading of the aggregate at the stockpile with Brad Bowers, Harding County Highway Department Superintendent, at 605-375-3248.

Maintenance of the access road from Lewton Road to the stockpile is the responsibility of the

Contractor. The Contractor shall coordinate maintenance of the access road with Brad Bowers, Harding County Highway Department Superintendent.

Temporary stockpile locations within the project site shall be coordinated with and approved by the COR. The temporary stockpiles shall be located on existing gravel or asphalt surfaced parking areas within the project site and/or in the vicinity of the label for Construction Note 5 located within Block 2 as shown on sheet A1.1A.

Erionite is a naturally occurring, asbestiform microscopic, fibrous mineral which is not currently regulated by EPA. A composite sample of the stockpiled crushed aggregate taken by the

Forest Service was analyzed for erionite using the Polar Light Microscopy (PLM) method. Test results indicate the aggregate has trace (less than 0.2% concentration) amounts of erionite.

If the Contractor elects to use aggregate from

Lewton Pit, the Contractor shall submit a plan to mitigate the risk of airborne exposure from erionite to workers and persons at the project site.

ALL OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS REMAIN UNCHANGED.
