Requests for Information (RFI’s) for Plans and Specifications
Contractor Specific Requests 1
DSL-RFI-001
The extensive itemized bid breakdown list presents significant challenges with filling out accurately while receiving subcontractor and supplier bids in the closing hour on the proposal due date. Most mechanical and electrical bids are not received until the final 30 minutes of the bid (despite our insistence and reminders to get bids to us early – most mechanical and electrical suppliers won’t release their bids to the subcontractors until the last hour). Receiving a lump sum bid at the closing hour – inputting that bid into our master spreadsheet – finalizing our lump sum bid and then going back and filling out an itemized bid spreadsheet, all in the closing minutes of a bid multiplied by several bids being received and input – will create havoc as well as the large potential for having errors in the numbers filled out in the itemized bid breakdown. The majority of the sub-bids received by primes will not follow the requested government breakdown – it will be up to the prime contractor to contact the sub and get them to break out their numbers to fill in the forms. Again, the closing hour of a bid doesn’t allow time to perform all these inputs. And from a competitive standpoint – in order for the prime to provide a competitive bid to the government – the prime can’t close out the final bid until the closing minutes before the due date. Please consider allowing the itemized line item breakdown to be provided 2 hours after bid (or the following day) in order to allow adequate time for the primes to accurately fill out the requested information in a controlled approach and not rushed.
Bid due dates revised in this amendment. See PBI-009.
DSL-RFI-002
Please provide a copy of the geotechnical report.
No geotechnical report is available. See PBI-003.
