About this file
This is a technical drawing document for a Steel Stress Panel with 4-strand barbed wire fence design. The drawing was produced by the United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management, Pecos District Operations Office in Roswell, New Mexico, dated January 2022 (Drawing Number 323116-4).
The specification details a fence panel structure consisting of 2" x 12" x 12" vertical lumber components and 2" x 2" horizontal members, with twisted wire fence stays positioned at 16-foot centers between T-posts placed at 16-foot centers to a depth of 1-foot-6 inches. The design incorporates 16" x 16" x 16" concrete footings with a base for vertical steel angles, which shall consist of a cylindrical concrete footing with a minimum 39-inch depth and 10-inch diameter, with the steel angle centered in the diameter and positioned approximately 3 inches above the bottom of the cylinder. Brace anchor blocks are specified as approximately 16" x 16" x 16" with the end of the brace centered in the anchor block. The twisted wire fence stay is specified as 3/8" x 48" rebar (Grade 40) or 40" juniper cedar with 2-inch minimum diameter throughout. Wire attachment is to be executed according to the wire spacing diagram, and panels should not exceed 1,320 feet maximum distance between panels. The fastening detail references a separate technical specification, and the wire shall be notched and positioned to create fastening tabs along the bottom edge of the vertical angle post.
