In Section 27 of the Specifications, it calls for Berk-Tek CAT 6 cable, and Leviton connectivity. A comparable, Superior Ethics is the alternate cable and there isn't a reduction in performance. Also Lagrande Ortronics is the alternate connectivity for cable.

My question is can those brands be used as comparable equipment?

AE

Yes these brands can be used as comparable/or equal.

67. Plans, EY201

EY201 is an Equipment Schedule that discusses CISCO products. I am not understanding the scope of work for IT solutions. I would like clarification of IT solutions is not to provide a quote for equipment but provide install cable for computers?

AE

Contractor/Cabling contractor is to provide and install all equipment indicated on sheet EY201, unless noted otherwise.

68. Plans A3.2 What is the shading on Page A3.2? AE Shadows. In an attempt to show the various ceiling levels in a more obvious graphic manor, shadows were added.

Is the “Consultant House” mentioned in the specs available? If so who is the contact? How much a month including utilities?

No. There is a Tribal Member’s House for Rent and a room in the Supai Lodge available. See answers given in #16-19. This information supersedes the Specification.

70.

Specifications, Section 0033000

Are all the tests for concrete going to be required, due to the nature of the aggregates used and the location of the project? Page 0033000‐2 of the specifications.

AE

Yes, concrete will have to be field mixed so quality control is an issue to be monitored and quantified through testing.

Plans, Architectural

On the 1st floor I can see on a couple of soffit details, is that any kind of hard furr downs are to use wood construction. This require coverage in that interstitial space, so we would be almost doubling the heads. Do you think there may be variance to use steel framing?

AE

Revised - The building is designed for wood construction and requires sprinkler coverage in the interstitial space per NFPA- 13.

72. Fire Sprinkler

Since it is an R occupancy on the 2nd floor it should be separated occupancy. The Architect does point this out several times so what IBC would allow us to do is split the standards so we can use NFPA 13 on the first floor and NFPA 13R on the second. The specs to say NFPA 13 but they also say automatic sprinkler system per IBC so I can go either way.

AE

Revised - The fire sprinkler system can only be split into NFPA- 13 and NFPA-13R systems if the two areas are considered two separate, but attached buildings. This project is designed as a single building with mixed occupancies. Fire Protection Contractor shall provide an NFPA-13 fire sprinkler system per the construction specifications.

75. Plans, M4.1

I am currently looking at the Split System Heat Pump Unit Schedule listed on page M4.1 of the 100% construction docs issued on 8/9/19.

The schedule shows Daikin units listed with minimum SEER ratings ranging from 16-17.8 and HSPF ratings of 10.5. Looking at our product offerings, our units do match the SEER ratings exactly for some of the 19 units listed, nor do we have the same HSPF rating for some of the sizes. My question is whether there is a code these units are scheduled to match that we can compare our units

to. Is there any available room to slide on the scheduled efficiencies as long as we meet a required code or should we avoid bidding this project as certain units do not match the scheduled efficiency? I appreciate your help as we qualify this project.

AE/COR

This project is designed to the 2015 International Building Codes that includes the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code. We recommend the alternate unit manufacturer provide a submittal package for the alternate equipment including any deviations for specifications for consideration.

We note that in addition to the Daikin Basis of Design, other Mechanical Systems/Vendor’s products are acceptable, such as Carrier; and as well, other Control Systems may also be submitted for approval as equal, e.g., Automated Logic.

89. Asbestos Report

I have gone over the report and the photos, and it appears that there is a discrepancy. The report lists 2500 sf of shingle, felt and tar roof as asbestos containing, but the photos show that building 311 is a metal roof. I take it that the roof work was previously performed after the date of the asbestos report, and we are not concerned with the roof itself.

That would leave only the 12 sq ft of tile listed in the hot water heater room. Is this correct?

COR

Correct. Please bid the project without demolition and removal costs for the asbestos containing 2500 sf of shingle, felt and tar roof listed in the 2003 Asbestos Report. If it is later determined that asbestos containing materials are present in the roof, we will consider a request for modification/change order request.

90. Asbestos Report

Since the roof is different from what was listed in the previous asbestos report, has a new survey been performed? This would be required if the roof was to be disturbed, unless the architect signed off on the roof when built verifying that no asbestos contains materials were used in its construction.

COR

We will perform a new asbestos survey prior to construction.

The successful offeror will be provided with a copy of this survey.

Specifications section

The containment and PPE requirements are very restrictive and way more overkill than is needed for flooring removal. The requirement for Type C supplied air respirators, and at minimum PAPR’s is way beyond the requirements for this type of work, as would be a full containment with clean room and showers. Are we able to change these requirements to meet the actual scope of work? (Not changing will add a great amount of cost, more than the actual bid would be). The document Div_2_Demo_Asbestos in the Construction Documents, paragraphs

1.6.4.1 through 1.6.8.4, the requirements for the type of containment, respirator types, and shower and decon procedures are extremely restrictive and way more than is needed for the type and size of the abatement project needed.
