About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding optional work items for drydocking the USCGC VIGOROUS. The work items include replacing propeller shaft sleeves, renewing fiberglass covering on propeller shafts, replacing external propulsion bearings, checking propulsion system alignment using optical or laser instrumentation, and refilling the hydraulic system with MIL-L-46152 Grade 10W-30 oil. The answers indicate work would be performed on one or both propeller shafts as determined necessary by U.S. Coast Guard inspection, and involve replacing port shaft external bearings and potential replacing starboard bearings based on strain gage readings. The solicitation is for drydocking the USCGC VIGOROUS in FY20 for the Department of Homeland Security U.S. Coast Guard.

a. Paragraph 1.2 shows Government Furnished Material to be 2 Each, Intermediate Strut Bearings and 2 Each Aft Strut Bearings. This is a quantity for 2 shafts.
b. Is the Contractor required to replace the Aft and Intermediate Strut Bearings on just one shaft or both?
Answer:
WI037 is an OPTIONAL Item which can be activated per shaft. If this work item is deemed as necessary by the USCG Inspector, it will be activated.
