Question:
Work Item 34, Paraqgraph 1.1 Intent states "This work item describes the requirements for the Contractor to clean and inspect the propeller immediately after drydocking."
This indicates that ONE propeller is to be cleaned and inspected.
Paragraph 3.2 states "3.2 CPP Cleaning. The Contractor shall thoroughly clean the Cutter's controllable pitch propeller or propellers depicted in Coast Guard Drawing 627 WMEC 245-017 to remove all marine growth and fouling."
How many propellers are required to be cleaned and inspected by work item 34?
Answer :
Both propellers shall be cleaned and inspected.
Work Item 39, Paragraph 1.1 Intent. States "This work item describes the requirements for the Contractor to remove, visually inspect and reinstall port propulsion line shafts."
Paragraph 3.3 states "Line shaft removal. The Contractor shall remove port and starboard line shafts using..."
Is the contractor required to remove and install both the port and starboard intermediate line shafts or just the port intermediate line shaft?
Answer:
1.1: The intent of this WI is to remove the PORT shaft for repairs, while having the OPTION to the same to the STBD shaft, depending up strain gage readings.
3.3: This is true if the STBD shaft option is activated, as it stands at this moment, only the PORT shaft is definitely being removed.
At this time, the contractor is required to remove and install the PORT shaft. The STBD shaft is an OPTION item which may be activated pending strain gage readings.
Question:
Work Item 012, Reference Drawings identified on Work Item 12 do not provide procurement information in order to identify the specific sea strainer baskets which are required to be replaced.
Please provide the specific material type and basket mesh (hole size/spacing) for the required new strainer baskets.
Answer:
All Strainer inserts are Stainless Steel, please refer to the table below for manufacturer’s part number and NSN’s, which may be cross reference for details.
Work Item 016, Hot Circulating Water and Steam services are not typically required for availabilities.
Is Hot Circulating Water and Steam required to be provided for this project?
Answer:
a. How circulating water will be required during this availability. WI019 is the repair of the ship’s Hot Water Tank.
b. Steam will need to be provided to the ship for any duration the crew is living onboard.
