About this file
This document contains a questions and response set regarding a solicitation for precast panel repairs to the Miami International Airport Air Traffic Control Tower. The Federal Aviation Administration is seeking removal of approximately 44 abandoned light fixtures and associated wiring from the cable access floor level. While section 01 10 00 paragraph 1.4.D item 11 of the project specifications references this electrical work, it was not described elsewhere. In response, the FAA clarifies the downlights previously illuminated the cable access level but deteriorated when the space was exposed to the elements, though bulbs were removed, fixture frames remain. Repair of precast panels to the Miami ATCT is required, with an optional site visit detailed in the solicitation. Offerors must be registered in the System for Award Management and submit proposals in accordance with the solicitation's instructions by the specified due date.

Questions and Response Set #4 MIA Precast Panel Repair
697DCK-22-R-00172
Q: Within the project specifications, section 01 10 00 paragraph 1.4.D, item 11 states, "Removing existing light fixtures and wiring on the cable access floor" yet there is no mention of electrical work, light fixtures, or wiring anywhere else in the specifications or drawings, and no indication of how much of what needs to be removed. Can the FAA elaborate on this work item?
A: Within the cable access level there were downlights used to illuminate the facility. When this space was opened to the elements the lights began to deteriorate and were abandoned. The bulbs were removed but the fixture frames remained. The fixtures and any associated wiring that remain are to be removed as part of the scope of this project. There are approximately 44 fixtures on this level. Please see the attached pictures for a sample of their layout and condition.
